Four persons dead, one serious and several injured when a bus fell down in a deep gorge in Nainital district
Yet another tragedy occured in Nainital, Uttarakhand sending shock waves in the entire Himalayan state.
A Uttarakhand roadways bus in Bhimtaal in Nainital district carrying twenty eight passengers on board fell down in a deep gorges killing four persons and injuring several others.
The condition of the bus is extremely bad as it took several twists and turns hitting the rocky mountains while felling in a deep gorge several metres downwards.
After hearing the news of the deadly accidents the SDRF, police teams etc reached the accident site in time and several injured passengers were retrieved with the help of the ropes with people reached at the site playing a pivotal role.
The chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami while expressing his deepest condolences and paying his heartfelt tributes said : The news of the death of 4 people in the unfortunate bus accident near Bhimtal is extremely heart-rending. I pray to God to grant peace to the souls of the departed and strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss. The seriously injured people are being treated at Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital, Haldwani, and a team of doctors from AIIMS Rishikesh has also been sent to Haldwani. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of all the injured wrote Dhami on X. The Senior Superintendent of Police Prahlad Meena confirming the news of the deadly accident said that the police and other agencies reached the accident spot on time and the SDRF team too reached there. Lot of injured have been retrieved from the accidental site said the SSP. The bus was heading from Haldwani to Almora before felling into the 1500 metres down in a gorge.
The former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat write on his FB post : The news of a roadways bus coming from Almora to Haldwani falling into a ditch near Amdali on the Bhimtal-Ranibagh motor road is extremely sad. When the bus fell into the ditch, the passengers in the bus were thrown here and there.
News has been received of sudden death of four people and serious injuries to some others in the accident. May God grant a place to the departed souls in his lotus feet and give strength to their families to bear this unbearable loss. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
The accident occured after the driver of the bus tried to avoid an accident on seeing the BMW coming from the other side probably on speed.
The unfortunate incidents are on massive rise in Uttarakhand and this year there have been more accidents compared to last year which is indeed a very disturbing trend. According to the founder of SDC, Dehradun there had been 1600 accidents this year till November in which 1400 persons were injured, several seriously too and about one thousand people died
