The demand for implementation of Concrete land act in Uttarakhand has now reached its peak with several protest demonstrations taking place and all the political parties backing it thoroughly though the ruling saffron party though always assuring to bring it into force have never given it a practical shape. The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been assuring the state electorates since the pre election days in 2022 to formulate a credible policy to introduce a concrete land act after his party comes to power again but even after getting tremendous majority with BJP repeating for the second term breaking the myth that alternative political parties rule in Uttarakhand after every assembly election (once Congress and then BJP and vice versa ) it hasn’t honoured the people’s aspirations and its pre and post election pledges to implement the credible land act even after the BJP assuming power and Uttarakhand CM taking charge for the second time. What is shocking to note is the fact that the chief minister Dhami tried to give a ” JHUNJUNA” to the electorates about formulating a concrete Land Act but kept it at the back burner to show immense interest in hurriedly implementing the Uniform Civil Code impressing the prime minister Narendra Modi who patted the CM UK saying that this will finally become an incredible model for the national UCC to be implemented by the centre. WOW. This is called fooling the people who bring you to power.
The general elections too got the saffron party elected for the third term but the Credible Land Act of Uttarakhand despite so much of hullabaloo never saw the light of the day compelling the activists of Uttarakhand Ekta Manch to raise another demand for bringing Uttarakhand under the fifth schedule of the constitution so that the hill state is automatically declared the tribal state with schedule 5 and other constitutional privileges as the states of entire Northeast and some other states are enjoying.
The media is also writing much on the failure of the state CM on implementing the Credible Land Act despite his several pre and post election promises in this regard.
Kindly recall that the former CM and the present MP from Haridwar Trivendra Singh Rawat had during his tenure earlier abolished the ceiling on 12.5 acres of land sale / purchase thus opening the floodgates for the ultra rich buying more than fifty percent of large tracts of agricultural and other form of lands in Uttarakhand thus contributing immensely to spoil the demography of the hill state achieved by 43 sacrifices and thousands of movement activists going to jail and incessantly suffering .
Today there is a new development yet again as usual as the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that he is going to formulate a final credible policy of Land Act of Uttarakhand shortly which according to its chief Subhash Kumar, former chief secretary of Uttarakhand is already fully prepared but kept on hold for the best reasons known to the chief minister, who had exhibited out of turn interest in implementing the Uniform Civil Code of Uttarakhand which has hardly impacted or benefitted the populace of Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, according to the latest news a significant meeting was held in Bharadisain, Gairsain today, chaired by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The chief minister deliberated on the finally formulated draft on credible land act by the committee formed on the Land Act headed by Subhash Kumar and other senior officers. The chief minister catagorically said that the state government is extremely serious on this count by all means, again assuring that the concrete land act will be introduced and implemented soon. He said that the state government is giving final touches to the draft of the new concrete land act on the wishes and aspirations of the electorates of Uttarakhand. He said that the concrete and well deserved suggestions will be elicited by the people and also through the SDM and Tehsildars at the decentralised level.
The new Land Act is being formulated keeping into consideration the wishes, aspirations, suggestions and advices of the common people said the CM.
In the meeting with the CM Dhami were the chief secretary of Uttarakhand Radha Raturi, former chief secretary Indu Kumar Pandey, Subhash Kumar, Additional chief secretary Anand Vardhan,BP Pandey, former DGP Anil Raturi, Pramukh Sachiv Mr.Sudhanshu, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, S.N Pandey and several other senior officers.
According to political analysts of Uttarakhand the speed of assurances on various issues especially the credible land act is the result of the ongoing by election of Kedarnath assembly seat. Last time the BJP had lost its Badrinath seat in the by-election annoying the central high command and now apprehensions of losing Kedarnath seat too, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is making one after another assurances hoping to win this seat and secure his chief ministership.
