Rahul Gandhi interacts with Loco pilots and assures of raising their grievances in parliament

The Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is extremely mobile as usual. Yesterday he was in Hathras meeting the traumatised families in the Religious Congregation Stampede n also wrote a letter to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath demanding enhancement in the financial compensation for the bereaved families of the deceased and the injured. Today he met the Locomotive pilots and interacted with them asking about their burning issues not being attended by the authorities despite they confronting tremendous problems.

After hearing the grievances of the locomotive pilots Rahul Gandhi said that they are being tortured n their grievances need to be resolved at all costs. While assuring the locomotive pilots of doing his best to resolve their burning issues/ grievances Rahul asked them to guide him as to what points he should raise in Lok Sabha to address your entire grievances. The worrisome locomotive pilots said there are basically their three demands which need to be raised n resolved. They are (1) Night shifts shouldn’t be more than two incessantly (2) There should be arrangements of air condition and toilet service (3) They have to work for 14-15 hours on every shift which should be reduced to 8-9 hours as this is extremely tiresome. (4) They also spoke about their DA issue in a mild voice. To this Rahul Gandhi assured them to raise their grievances in parliament. They also complained of no leaves in between , sometimes even punished for asking or availing a leave due to some unavoidable circumstances.

There were more than a hundred locomotive pilots and majority of them were very vocal towards their grievances complaining about the daily 14-15 hours work with a break of merely eight hours after working for 28 hours. They also complained about their tiring working conditions without Air conditioned n toilet especially during peak summers when temperature crosses 40% celcius n otherwise including usually compelled to block their urine in the absence of toilets.

This is inhuman and medically risky said one of the locomotive pilots as urologists always advise not to block your urine when you feel like peeing. They said while they generate the Air conditioning system of the entire train to keep the passengers comfortable but they don’t have this facility for their own, knowing very well that we have to work in tremendous hot environment in the absence of AC for hours together. They all talked in unison and raised their grievances with Rahul Gandhi saying, how can this happen and that this is not less than torture.

On social media handle X raising the grievances of the locomotive pilots the concerned leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi wrote : In the government of Narendra Modi, the life of loco pilots has completely derailed. Loco pilots are forced to work 16-16 hours a day, sitting in cabins boiling with heat. Those on whom millions of lives depend, no longer have any confidence in their own lives. Deprived of even basic facilities like urinals, loco pilots have no limit on working hours and they do not get any leave. Due to which they are becoming physically and mentally exhausted and ill. In such circumstances, making loco pilots drive the train means putting their lives and those of the passengers at risk. INDIA will raise its voice in Parliament to improve the rights and working conditions of loco pilots. By watching this small discussion you can also feel their pain.
