He served in Dainik Hindustan as its chief editor. Ajay Upadhyay had been on important positions during his journalistic career and carried a good reputation in media circles as a senior journalist. The writer of this sad news used to meet him very often in 1986-87 onwards when he was in Dainik Jagran stationed at its Delhi bureau office at INS building. He was a gem of a person, serious in nature but a smiling face and of affable nature. God accord peace to the departed noble soul.

Journalists across the country and his old colleagues and social and political friends who worked with him have expressed deep grief over his shocking demise.

According to senior journalist, columnist and prolific writer Vivek Shukla – Ajay ji was an ace journalist and a very gracious person. Even though he had a civil Engineering degree from the BHU, he joined the media world. We became friends when he was a News Editor of Hindi Sunday observer and I was writing there. Once Hindi Sunday observer publication was stopped, he moved to the English Sunday Observer . There again both of us were working together. That was the time it was edited by Mohammad Sayeed Malik Sir. Later, he became bureau chief of Dainik Jagran. He was writing extensively in DJ. Then came his stint as an Editor of Dainik Hindustan. I was already working in DH. Our friendship remained the same. Om Shanti.

OM Shanti.
