UTTARAKHAND POLLED 9.68% LESS VOTING NOT 5.99% COMPARED TO 2019 POLLING

In Uttarakhand there had been low voting as compared to the voting of 2019 general elections. According to Anoop Nautiyal the founder of SDC and renowned social activist , writer based at Dehradun compared to 2019 Lok Sabha, there has been 9.68% less voting, not 5.99%.

According to the EC website in 2019, there was 61.88% voting, right now in the Voter App, 55.89% voting has taken place in the state. When we see the drop, it becomes 5.99% but according to Percentage it is 9.68%.

According to the latest estimates in Uttarakhand it has recorded 53 percent voting whereas in 2019, it had recorded

Now, the point is what does this low voting indicate 58.01% voting in all the five lok sabha constituencies in Garhwal and Kumaon region.

Among the five Lok Sabha constituencies, Nainital recorded 59.36% voter turnout while Haridwar saw 59.01% voting till evening. In Tehri, 51.01% turnout was reported, followed by Garhwal with 48.79% and Almora at 44.53.

The voting percentage this year was less than the turnout of 58.01% recorded during the 2019 Lok Sabha poll.

According to SDC’s Nautiyal as of 5 p.m., there is a 7.67% vote decline in Uttarakhand compared to 2019. Biggest decline of 12.78% is in the Haridwar constituency. Finally, if vote % reaches 57%, it would mean that 35+ lakh voters out of 83+ lakh did not vote in State.

This is very concerning,” said Mr. Nautiyal, founder of the Social Development for Communities Foundation, an NGO.

The Congress party seems to be happy on the low polling saying that people didn’t came to vote because they were annoyed with the ruling political dispensation with BJP saying that it was so because the election commission was very strict this time. The spokesperson of Uttarakhand BJP Garima Dasauni said that the slogan of 400 paar of BJP and PM Narendra Modi seems to have been flopped in the first round of dismal voting not only in Uttarakhand but elsewhere too. On asking Anoop Nautiyal about this low voting percentage this time he replied that there are several reasons like migration, non resonance of voters with issues raised by parties, decision to boycott, overall voter apathy and disdain, more online focus than on ground, strict EC guidelines, weddings, weekend, agriculture and missing names in voter lists etc all contributing to low voting.
