Heated arguments between Additional Solicitor General Raju and Abhishek Manu Singhvi in High Court for interim relief to Kejrival !
DELHI CHIEF MINISTER Arvind Kejrival who had been sent to 14 days judicial custody by the special additional district sessions judge Kaveri Baveja was represented by leading advocate and senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi who strongly argued for interim relief for Kejrival in Delhi High Court. The ED was represented by S.V Raju . Both the counsels for Kejrival and Enforcement Directorate had sharp verbal arguments in front of the High Court judge with ED’s advocate n additional solicitor general S.V Raju coming heavily on Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival arguing that criminals are supposed to be arrested and put behind bars pointing towards Arvind Kejrival further adding that Under trial prisoners have no right to say that we will commit crime and will not be arrested because elections are taking place. This is nothing but completely ridiculous said Additional Solicitor General SV Raju. Earlier to the arguments of SV Raju , Arvind Kejrival’s counsel Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi batted for him saying that this is clearly a politically vindictive attitude , the sole purpose of Delhi CM’s arrest being nothing but to humiliate him, destabilise and weaken the party he represents i.e.AAM ADMI PARTY. This is absolutely so because the AAM Admi Party represented by Arvind Kejrival is a huge challenge to BJP in all the seven Lok Sabha constituencies of the national capital. He categorically charged the ruling party for attempting to break the party AAP and arresting him despite not getting a single evidence in the case against him. His arrest is therefore unwarranted and that too because it too place during the elections to forbid him to campaign in favour of his candidates. The additional solicitor general responded saying that if a person commits a murder before the election asking will he not be arrested. You will commit a murder and say you can’t be arrested, is it possible comparing it with the corruption committed by Kejrival though nothing has been found against him till date as a concrete evidence. Mr.Abhishekh Manu Singhvi argued that there is no evidence against his client Arvind Kejrival and that the Enforcement Directorate made no attempt to first take his statement when they raided his residence adding that Level playing field is not just a phrase but it is an important part of free and fair elections which is a significant ingredient of a constitutional democratic structure said Singhvi. He asked what is the urgency ? I am talking about law not politics said Singhvi according to NDTV’s report. Singhvi questioned ED for repeatedly sending nine summons to Kejrival despite the very fact that the AAP has moved the court to challenge the agency’s call. My responding to the summons is a nice point of prejudice , it is a red herring said Singhvi referring to the nine call letters sent by ED to Delhi CM asking him to join the investigations.the additional solicitor general said Kejrival is in complicit with corruption in the new liquor policy and scam and insisted that he is personally involved in all this. He further said cash payment was made. Cash that was not accounted for. Source of the cash was bribe . It could be Rs 100 crores or less than that. This has been accepted by the AAP candidate as well argued S.V Raju Solicitor general revealed the NDTV report. The High Court judge has reserved its order for Thursday after hearing both the parties. Earlier in the day the Delhi minister for finance Aatishi Bharadwaj held a press conference and explained about the diabetic condition of jailed Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival who had been given special facilities for home food, monitoring of his suger levels constantly and arrangement for medicines he consumes daily apart from the Ramayana, Bhagwati Geeta and a book by eminent journalist Neeraj Choudhary titled How Prime minister’s Decide. Mrs Atishi has complained about Kejriwal losing 4.5 kg of weight since the day he was sent in judicial custody. The CM is reading this book inside prison these days.
