BIG JOLT TO CONGRESS IN UTTARAKHAND. MANISH KHANDURI QUITS CONGRESS FROM ITS PRIMARY MEMBERSHIP
The already factionalism ridden political party in Uttarakhand Congress has suffered a huge setback after its active office bearer and a claimant for the Pauri GARHWAL important seat as party’s candidate Manish Khanduri resigned from the primary membership of the party in a huff giving this information in the social media platform X writing in Hindi n English : I am resigning from the primary membership of the party and all associated position with immediate effect. I have taken decision without any consideration for expectation for personal game or anticipation.
It may be recalled that sin of the former chief minister of Uttarakhand and NHAI union minister at the centre during the tenure of the then PM Atal Bihari Vaipayee ( Retd) Major General BC Khanduri and brother if Uttarakhand speaker Ritu Khanduri had contested in 2019 as Congress candidate after joining it at the behest of Rahul Gandhi with whom Manish had personal equation as his friend. He lost the election at the hands of the former CM Tirath Singh Rawat securing 28% votes as against Rawat’s more than 60% votes. He was the claimant from this seat this time as well though not very enthusiastically. There were speculations about few important leaders of Congress likely to leave the party n join BJP. However, it is not clear for now as to whether Manish Khanduri will join BJP or take some more time to decide his future course of action. However there is every probability of her joining BJP which has given so much to his family. His father made central minister, MP and then CM of Uttarakhand and his sister Ritu Khanduri twice an MLA and currently the Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly.
