UCC TABLED IN UTTARAKHAND ASSEMBLY, LIKELY TO BE PASSED WITH UKHAND BECOMING THE FIRST STATE TO DO SO

Uttarakhand is going to be the very first state to become a model for implementing the Uniform Civil Code for the very first time setting an example in the entire country to fulfil the saffron party’s long pending demand since 1980, though the central government led by prime minister Narendra Modi has already fulfilled two other demands viz. abrogation of article 370, section 35 A and construction of magnificent Ram Temple. This is an election year and the political parties do their best in their own way to bag maximum votes by hook or by crook. Anyways, on Tuesday, the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami presented the final draft of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand assembly likely to be passed by majority votes as the BJP has 47 MLAs in the assembly more than enough to pass the bill conveniently making it a law. The Uniform Civil Code primarily talks about uniformity in implementation of laws in Uttarakhand for all religions, communities irrespective of differences in pursuance of faiths and religions. If passed which is absolutely confirmed, the new UCC in Uttarakhand will ensure minimum age of 18 years for girls and 21 years for men living in Uttarakhand irrespective of religion. If anyone breaches it , will be liable to face jail terms for 6 months and fine of Rs. 25000. The new bill prohibits buying or renting of properties in Uttarakhand without registration including legally prohibiting Polygamy, bigamy, Halala, iddat and triple talaq. There is a provision of three years in jail or a fine of Rs 50000 if anyone contravenes it. All the marriages to be solemnised after UCC implementation have been made mandatory within sixty days after the marriage is solemnised failing which there will be the fine if Rs 10000. Any marriage if dissolved against the UCC norms there is a provision of imprisonment for three years in jails. The living couples should register themselves within a month of live in relation ship failing which they’ll be penalised says the UCC bill. The UCC also legitimises the birth of a child out of relationship mutually acceptable to both including deserted women by her partner becoming eligible for maintenance legally.
