I will raise the issue of granting parole to controversial preacher Ram Rahim in Parliament : AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal
The former chief of Delhi commission for women for more than eight years and newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has accused the Haryana BJP Government for allegedly giving patronage to the life convict for rape and murder of innocent girls and a journalist for allegedly exposing his illegal deeds saying that the BJP led political ruling dispensation in Haryana is clandestinely giving patronage to Ram Rahim thus pushing our daughters in well to gain votes in the election.
In a matter criticizing the Haryana government AAP’s Rajya, Sabha MP Swati has posted on social media platform in Hindi writing : Once again Gurmeet Ram Rahim was given parole for 50 days. Is the Haryana government secretly protecting it? Is the government ready to push the daughters of the entire country into wells just to collect a few votes? At a time when the entire country is preparing for the consecration of Maryada Purushottam Prabhu Shri Ram, who fought for the dignity of women, this rapist-murderer is being set free. I will raise this issue in Parliament… wrote Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on her social media handle X.
It may be recalled that the chief of a religious commune Ram Rahim who is undergoing sentence of life in Rohtak prison Haryana convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25, 2017 on the serious charges for raping some female disciples including another sentence for ten years for murder of a journalist served to him on January 27 2019 was released on parole on Friday by a Rohtak Divisional Commissioner under the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners ( Temporary Release) Act 2022 for staying in parole at Dera’s Ashram in Bagpat Uttar Pradesh after furnishing a bond of Rs 3 lakhs on the condition of parole’s established norms.
He was again served another sentence in October 2021 for the murder of a Dera manager.
When Ram Rahim was convicted for rape and murder etc there were riots and violence in Panchkula, Chandigarh and several parts of Haryana allegedly claiming forty lives.
In November 21 he was released on 21 days parole. Having good clout of his and that of his Dera’s – Ram Rahim has tremendous influence on his crores of followers in several states including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya, Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and national capital Delhi. Several politicians of national stature and of various states have been visiting his ashrams earlier and now as well bowing in reverence to allegedly seek political patronage, especially during elections.
According to a TO I report that the controversial spiritual leader of preacher Ram Rahim would have been out if prison for 232 days during the last two years in parole.
