Rahul Gandhi demands JPC Probe into revelations against Adani in two foreign newspapers !
While the leaders of I. N. D. I. A, the conglomerate of 28 national and regional opposition parties are reaching Mumbai for a third Conclave to pose a credible political alternative in the fast approaching general elections to counter the Modi juggernaut which is considered to be quite formidable , the Congress party leaders have found a golden opportunity to encash after two global newspapers of high standing viz The Guardian and Financial Times published news pertaining to Adani Group under headings “Hidden investors and secret paper trails” and Modi Linked Adani Family secretly invested in its own shares in foreign countries etc.
The vociferous former Congress president Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference in Mumbai today showing the copies of The Guardian and Financial Times allegedly connecting the prime minister with his close industrialist friend Adani with Rahul Gandhi questioning the credibility of PM posting on X earlier twitter in Hindi : Two big newspapers of the world have raised questions on the relations between prime minister and Adani – This is a blot on the prestige of Hindustan. Prime minister Sir, What is this relationship called ? Why are you afraid of ordering a full scale probe against Adani questioned the Congress leader on X, earlier Twitter.
Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and several opposition leaders have reached Mumbai to participate in the INDIA CONCLAVE taking place tomorrow.
Addressing the press conference in an attacking mode Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded a thorough Joint Parliamentary Probe into these revelations questioning prime minister as to why is he maintaining silence and not ordering probe into the shady deals of Adani group. While expressing his serious concern of the shocking revelations in two financial global newspapers of high standing, Rahul Gandhi said that it is very important that the prime minister of India Narendra Modi clears his name and catagorically explains what is going on.
The Joint Parliamentary Committee’s thorough probe should take place said, Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi asked why is it that whenever the Adani issue is raised, the prime minister gets uncomfortable.
Referring to the reports showing links between Adani and PM Rahul asked what relations do prime minister Modi has with Adani, should be clarified.
The report published in two American papers had revealed that Adani group had invested into its own shares and then transferred the same to India to buy various huge projects etc. Rahul Gandhi was addressing the press conference in Mumbai where he had gone to participate in the third I. N. D. I. A. CONCLAVE.
Meanwhile, the Communications chief of AICC and former environment minister during Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure who was in the PC with Rahul Gandhi also came out heavily against the BJP led government and PM.
Demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe as his leader Rahul Gandhi asked for in the PC at Mumbai today Jairam Ramesh wrote in detail on X earlier Twitter that today’s explosive revelations by ” The Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, The Financial Times and The Guardian about the clearly brazen violation of Indian securities laws by the Adani Group and its close associates are a reminder of how hollow these words have proven. Addressing a PC and then tweeting Ramesh said : As New Delhi gears up for the 2023 G20 summit meeting, it is worth recalling PM Modi’s words at the November 2014 Brisbane G20 summit calling for global cooperation “to eliminate safe havens for economic offenders”, to “track down and unconditionally extradite money launderers” and to “break down the web of complex international regulations and excessive banking secrecy that hide the corrupt and their deeds.” Today’s explosive revelations by The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, The Financial Times and The Guardian about the clearly brazen violations of Indian securities laws by the Adani Group and its close associates are a reminder of how hollow these words have proven. They are a reminder of the lengths and depths to which the PM has gone to protect his corrupt friends and their misdeeds by rendering India’s regulatory and investigative agencies toothless, reducing them to political tools to intimidate the Opposition rather than to investigate wrongdoing. The revelations also provide some answers to the more than 100 pointed questions the Congress party has asked the PM about his murky relationship with Adani as part of the Hum Adani Ke Hain Kaun (HAHK) series. The PM continues to be silent on these questions of national interest. There is now fresh evidence linking Adani associates Nasser Ali Shaban Ahli and Chang Chung-Ling to an effort to bypass Indian securities laws relating to minimum public shareholding that were put in place to prevent share price manipulation. Shell companies controlled by Ahli and Chang—that have been revealed to be fronts for Gautam Adani’s elder brother Vinod—accumulated substantial stakes in four Adani Group companies covertly and illegally. The stench of corruption around the network of Adani-linked shell companies located in opaque tax havens is only getting stronger with the money trail being established now. The actual ownership of two of the thirteen benami shell companies that SEBI has failed to identify, despite years of “investigation”, has been revealed. But questions remain about SEBI’s role. Did the obvious conflict of interest revealed by the association of past SEBI Chairpersons with the Adani Group play a role in SEBI’s inability to properly investigate these shell companies? Why did SEBI fail to disclose to the Supreme Court that the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence(DRI) had carried out investigations against the Adani Group in 2014, that were then closed by the Modi government in 2017? Despite the Modi government’s best efforts, the truth will not stay suppressed forever. However, the full story about the flow of benami funds into the Adani Group, how foreign citizens came to play a role in critical national infrastructure and how PM Modi violated rules, regulations and norms to enrich his close friends can only be revealed by a JPC said Congress Communication department chief and former union environment minister Jairam Ramesh.
