Anita ( Negi) Gupta who spearheaded the movement to get death to brutal rapists and killers of Damini of Najafgarh, is no more. Shocking.
A leading NGO activist and a fighter against corruption and injustice, relentlessly struggling hard to protect the oppressed girls n women, who solely spearheaded the movement to get due justice to the Damini of Najafgarh’s shattered poor and hapless parents Kunwar Singh Negi and Ganeshi Devi by finally taking the case to its logical end, seeking death sentence for three human beasts currently languishing Delhi’s Tihar Jail Anita Negi Gupta is no more.
She had breathed her last in her Gurugram House. The news of her sad demise has shocked and shaken hundreds of women, youngsters and senior citizens especially fellow Uttarakhandies living in Delhi who had participated in several protests, sit ins n candle marches at Jantar Mantar and outside Dwarka court demanding capital punishments to the brutal rapists and killers of 19 year old Kiran Negi in Haryana after kidnapping her from Qutub Vihar, Najafgarh in 2012.
Hundreds of women, girls, youngsters and senior citizens from various corners of Delhi and even Uttarakhand came to Jantar Mantar and Dwarka season Court in 2014 on the call of Sanjeevni NGO chief n dedicated woman leader Anita Negi Gupta who recharged the issue that was lying under the carpet for three years with police taking interest in the case as all the three culprits were out on bail.
It were the dedicated efforts of brave Anita Negi Gupta that not only had the session Court Judge of Dwarka Justice Virendra Bhatt accorded capital punishment to these three brutal rapists and killers but Anita also got the financial aid from judicial authority for the deceased’s family that also included Rs 7 lakh financial support granted by the former Uttarakhand CMs Vijay Bahuguna n Harish Rawat due to her n Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi’s initiatives.
The eminent Actor and producer of popular TV programme Aamir Khan had also called Anita Gupta in his programme SATYA MEV JAYATE and highlighted the efforts and good work being carried forward by her as a saviour of depressed and oppressed women including the case of Kiran Negi.
A brave fighter to the core, always devoted to women causes Anita Negi Gupta was also a compenssionate women who had adopted a girl child from a poor family to render her best of education and a comfortable life. Anita Negi Gupta risked her life several times and helped Delhi police unearth a large stock of smuggled illicit liquor in Qutub Vihar with the support of several women who she had mobilised to fight out these illicit liquor smugglers if they want to get rid their husbands of liquor habit spoiling their families.
She also used to organise International Women’s Day at Qutub Vihar every year on 8 th March to encourage struggling women by felicitations them with trophies and also helping them financially. Sounds shocking and traumatic that while the brutal rapists and murderers of Damini of Najafgarh are still alive despite having been awarded capital punishment in 2014 with the deceased girl’s poor parents running from pillar to post to seek due justice, the crusader who got death for these culprits have left this world prior to the sinners. May her pious soul rest in peace. Our heartfelt tributes to the pious departed soul. Om Shanti.
