Rahul raises the issue of his disqualification from Lok Sabha membership in US adding that he got huge opportunity out of it !

The former Congress president Rahul Gandhi created yet another controversy in United States with ruling Bhartiya Janata Party leaders criticising him on the top of their voice. Congress leader and Nehru Gandhi family scion has emphatically raised the issue of his being disqualified in a defamation case and given the maximum sentence of two years in jail including snatching parliament membership from him.

Speaking for forty minutes and interacting for thirty minutes thereafter with the Indian diaspora at Stanford University, San Francisco in United States of America looking quite relaxed Rahul Gandhi said that when he joined politics in 2004 in India, I never ever thought that I will experience what is going on there today. Just for defamation, I have been disqualified from parliament and sentenced to two years imprisonment.

Presently he is on bail. This is the second time that Rahul criticized the BJP led NDA government on foreign soil earlier in England inviting tremendous criticism from BJP leaders In India. Dressed in a Bandgala suit Rahul Gandhi mentioned about his disqualification from Lok Sabha membership after he was pronounced as former MP by the anchor of the programme amid cheers in the audience.

The BJP spokesman who joined saffron party few years ago earlier in Congress as media department Chief Tom Vaddakam while responding to Rahul Gandhi’s accusation criticized him for downgrading India’s image in a foreign land despite the fact that he was disqualified by the court. While narrating his disqualification Rahul Gandhi said this however worked as a huge opportunity for him more than what he had then, adding this is how politics works in India.

On the question of seeking support from foreign countries on the issue of disqualification Rahul Gandhi denied saying this is our indigenous political fight and I want to interact and have good relations with Indian students living and studying abroad. However, he said that our prime minister never responds to queries of India diaspora abroad.

During his address and interactive session at Stanford University, US good number of students, professors etc were present and enjoyed interacting with the Congress leader. Posting the pictures of his meeting with India diaspora Rahul Gandhi tweeted : It was pleasure to engage with the learned audience at @ Stanford on ” THE NEW GLOBAL EQUILIBIRIUM’. We discussed the challenges and opportunities of a changing world order. Actions based on truth is the way forward tweeted RG.

Rahul Gandhi also interacted with students , activists, academics and Civil Society at University of California, Santa Clara dressed in traditional black jacket, kurta and Pyjama. In one of the questions at Santa Clara, University of California as to what will keep India united – Rahul responded : Our strength comes from our diversity. I am sure that’s an Idea of Congress party to protect our nation. We are committed to make India a fair place to exist in harmony said Rahul.

About protection of minorities he added : We want to create a bazaar of love instead of the market of hatred. He said as a young person the nation needs the youths. Go back to your country and help in its progress and development. He urged the students to support the idea of defeating BJP as they are the real ambassadors of love, humility and affection with a progressive vision. Rahul Gandhi was responding to five different questions of curious jubilant students in University of California, in US.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister for sports Anurag Thakur also criticized Rahul Gandhi for insulting India. Anurag tweeted : He is not targeting PM Modi , but is insulting the entire nation to which Congress party’s vociferous spokesperson Supriya Shrinate responded : Anurag Goli Maaro Thakur, You are also the sports minister apart from being trolled. Why had you given false assurances and lied to our daughters and now not coming to meet them, why? He will only issue rhetorics, that’s it tweeted Congresa leader.
