Intresting Anecdote/ When miser Hyderabad Nizam donated massive Gold slabs to Indian govt to fight enemy nation !

RAJIV NAYAN BAHUGUNA

Nizam of Hyderabad Osman Ali Khan. Picture circa 1950. At the time of partition of India, there was a desire to join it in Pakistan, which was never possible from the point of view of geography.
When he was not of his mind, he started sending his mawalis to the neighboring greater Mumbai region to cause nuisance. Then Mumbai’s strong Home Minister Morarji Desai recruited road raiders in the Home Guard, and ordered them to be chased away till Hyderabad.

Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao along with his Guru Swami Ramanand Teerth was a major participant in the movement against Nizam Shahi. On the other hand famous poets Kaifi Azmi, Ali Sardar Jafri and Makhdum Moiuddin etc. communists were the leaders of underground armed rebellion against it.
Then the Home Minister Sardar Patel sent soldiers to Kumuk to repair its parts. This tune was spoken as soon as the first aircraft of the Indian Air Force landed.

But in course of time there was a wonderful change in it. When he saw the rich Muslims who had gone from India becoming beggars in Pakistan, he understood that India is his beloved country. During the war with Pakistan in 1965, when Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri asked the rich to donate for the country, most of the Seths ( the affluents/ ultra rich) started peeping under their armpits. Then this Nizam dedicated several tonnes of gold lying in his warehouse to the Prime Minister’s Fund, which Shastri himself came to Hyderabad airport to receive.
No one has given a bigger donation for the country till date.

Nizam was also a top class miser, so he put a condition that the empty boxes should be sent back immediately after taking off the gold. And didn’t go home from the airport until the empty tin boxes were back.
