POLLING STARTED IN 13,738 POLLING BOOTHS OF DELHI ON 4 DECEMBER.

The polling in the much hyped municipal elections have started in National Capital Territory of Delhi today morning at 8.30 AM and will continue till 5.30 PM. There will be voting in 250 municipal wards of Delhi. This will be the first election after re – delimitation of MCD by the present government which was earlier during Sheila Dikshit’s tenure as CM was bifurcated in three zones South, East and North Zone during Congress Delhi rule.

Prior to the bifurcation of MCD into three zones it had 272 municipal wards but now it has been reduced to 250 wards.

About 1.45 crore electors will vote their candidates today the counting of which will be held on 7 th December.

The high pitched election propaganda came to halt on 2 nd December at 4.00 PM.

This time three parties have been in the fray viz. AAP, Congress n BJP. While the BJP and AAP has fielded candidates on 250 seats , the Congress has fielded candidates on 247 seats.

The Delhi election Commission have installed 13, 738 polling stations in entire NCT of Delhi and about 40,000 police personnel including paramilitary forces and 20000 home guards have been deputed to maintain law and order during this polling process.

Out of over 1.46 crore voters nearly 79 lakh males, 66 lakh ten thousand women, and 1.061 transgenders will vote in these elections.

In the high pitched campaigning during the last thirteen days there had been accusations and counter accusations between AAP, BJP and Congress parties with AAP looking tremendously confident with its Delhi CM and national convenor Arvind Kejrival saying that it will win 80% seats and BJP claiming hundred percent victory. The Congress party which is losing since 2015 in Delhi assembly municipal n parliamentary elections is trying hard to enhance its seats in Delhi MCD with no signs of massive victory as being claimed by AAP and BJP.

The Delhi government has closed the liquor shops and its sales since December 2 and will continue till today.

The Delhi elections are considered to be very significant and the victory in this election are considered as the barometer of victory for parties in national elections.

Political analysts say that the reputation of both prime minister Narendra Modi and Delhi CM and national convenor of AAP is at stake on these elections.

If Kejrival loses this election he will face political consequences in other states in future where he is, trying to speed its influence whereas BJP won’t suffer much as the anti incumbency factor after 15 long year rule in Delhi MCD is already in the waiting for the saffron party reveal political analysts.

It is usually said that if polling would be massive it may go against the ruling party in MCD. It remains to be seen as to how much percent of the people vote in Delhi elections today ?
