Yellow alert enforced in Delhi. All marriage halls, sports complexes, colleges, schools to be closed with metro, restaurants running on 50% capacity
After Delhi recording 331 Covid 19 cases on Monday and 165 cases of Omicron, the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has issued yellow, alert in the national capital Territory of Delhi which means that a night curfew has been imposed from 10 in the night to 8 in the morning.
The country recorded 650 Omicron cases with Delhi being second after Maharashtra which recorded 176 Omicron infections.
There will be fifty percent attendance in all offices with schools n colleges closed and twenty to thirty persons’ attendance in marriage functions including several other restrictions.
However, addressing a press conference Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced that there is no need to panic as the cases of Omicron are very very mild with no fatality till yet, except a single Covid death and majority of the patients being cured.
He added that in view of the growing cases there will be fifty percent attendence in Delhi Metro, all restaurants and bar and decision has been taken to close the cinema houses, spa, gyms, entertainment park, sports complexes, stadiums multiplexes, marriage halls and auditoriums, colleges, schools n institutions etc. But parks will be opened. Only twenty persons will be allowed in marriage functions and funerals.
He said that in view of the Covid 19 positivity rate going above 0.5% during the last few days, the Delhi government has decided to enforce level 1, Yellow Alert, of the Graded Response Action Plan, the detailed order on restrictions of which will be released soon said Delhi CM.
Appealing for not to panic Arvind Kejriwal said that there had been very mild cases of Omicron with very mild symptoms, posing no serious danger of its severity. But this does not mean that we should be careless and avoid following Covid 19 protocols.
He asked one and all to wear mask at all costs though there had been no requirement of oxygen or ventilators, nor patients admitted in hospitals. But if the people will become careless and negligent the Covid virus will not spare them, he added.
Expressing his serious concerns over the increasing rush and crowds in the markets and bazaars Arvind Kejriwal said that while wearing of masks is utmostly essential people should also avoiding going to markets and public places unless it is very essential. It has been visualised people not wearing masks in jam packed markets and malls which is highly worrisome.
Assuring Delhites about the full medical arrangements in the event of any eventuality in fully equipped Delhi hospitals , Delhi CM said that his government has initiated a grep command in oder to impose some restrictions to control the pandemic which is actually the need of the hour.
These restrictions are being imposed for the good of everyone. He urged one and all to maintain n follow the Covid protocols strictly by maintaing social n physical distance and wearing masks at all costs.
Meanwhile, in another development the Delhi CM has written a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi urging him to accept the demands of the striking doctors in Delhi at the earliest saying that the doctors of centre had been on strike for several days.
They have served humanity putting their lives to risk during Covid 19 times. The Covid 19 is on the surge again. They have to be in hospital not on roads. I strongly condemn the police atrocities on them. The PM sir should accept their demands forthwith. My letter to the PM tweeted Delhi CM.
