Woman tragically killed by a maneater in Pokhara block , Forest department a mere SPECTATOR

Tragic news has come from the Pokhara Block, Chaubatta Khal Assembly constituency. In the village of Gad, the wife of Mr. Ramesh Chandra Baduni was devoured by a tiger. This isn’t the first incident; the same story is being repeated everywhere in the mountains: Rikhanikhal, Pokhara, Nainital, and Pauri. Humans are no longer safe in their fields, in their yards, or even at their doorsteps.

The Forest Department’s negligence has now reached alarming proportions. Department officials are limited to filing “patrolling reports” and making speeches about “peaceful coexistence.”

The ground reality is that every week some tiger, leopard or wild animal is attacking a human being in the villages, and the department considers itself free by merely completing the formality of compensation.
The government makes rules in the name of “wildlife conservation,” but there appears to be no concrete policy for “human protection.” Tiger counts are increased every year, but the human population in mountain villages decreases every year.

MLAs and ministers, far from the suffering of the people, are preoccupied with satsangs, forums, and photo ops. These villages are their “people’s” during election season, and the rest of the time, they are merely statistics.

Are the lives of mountain women now only news headlines?
It’s time for the government and forest department to wake up.
Monitoring posts should be immediately established in tiger-infested areas.
Officers should be held accountable for investigating every attack.

Affected families deserve not just compensation but protection.
And most importantly, strong laws that balance this unequal battle between humans and animals.
