Woman dragged in bushes and brutally killed in Hindolakhal, Dev Prayag, Pauri Garhwal

There is yet another shocking news about a woman’s badly mutilated body, found in the nearby bushes few metres away from her house in Dev Prayag, Pauri Garhwal when a dreaded man eater clandestinely pounced upon her while she was busy in her family chores in the compound of her house. According to the latest news pouring in a maneater pounced up in a woman working in her House’s compound and grabbed her in the nearby bushes in Cham Sirva village, Hindolakhal Dev Prayag, Pauri Gargwal at 6 PM sending shock waves around. The brutally killed woman namely Shakuntala Devi was 45 years old, who was living in the extreme corner of the village with her son disabled. Her house being in the distant corner of the village, the villagers could not get the information in time as a result were informed later on, but by the time the panicked villagers reached the spot to find her extremely mutilated body, nothing could be done, except crying in anguish. The villagers informed the forest department officials who were thereafter able to locate the highly mutilated dead body of 45 years old Shakuntala. It took six hours by the forest department officials to locate the dead body in the bushes several kilometres away. The mutilated body was send by the forest department for postmortem. The officers of department has assured the bereaved family of monetary compensation of Rs. 4 lakh as per the government policy. Meanwhile, the department has hired two trained professional fighters to kill the man eater. It may be recalled that Devprayag, Pauri Garhwal is man eater prone with a woman in Maletha and a man in Devprayag, killed few months ago.

  1. Loudable actions by CM Dhami. But should evolve a very efficient monitoring system over and above systems evolved by respective DMs. He should first check out wild life menace on terror Lorne natives. The very fear is upsticking villagers, by hampering their confidence to stay in villages. I have advised, through some other forum, that top priority is to rehabilitate wild lives in jungles by planting fruit trees and erectng fencing around RF & CF, separating these to enter villages. Protect routes frequented by school goers or other villagers.
    Let some initiative be rested upon State Desaster Management to augment rescue management and rehearse rescue drills.
