The first women wrestler to win the Gold medal in Commonwealth and Asian Games and only women athlete to win multiple medals in World championships, 1994 born Vinesh Phogat who was also at loggerheads with the Indian Wrestling Federation chief , MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh finally compelling him to resign and case registered against him has today stunned the World number one champion in Women wrestling and defending champion hailing from Japan Yui Susaki, Olympian Gold medalist earlier, thus qualifying to enter the semifinals in the Women’s free style 50 kg wrestling event at the ” Mahakumbh of sports ” Paris Olympics.
What is outstanding and unique about this exceptional 29-30 year old highly energetic and strong wrestler Vinesh is that she was earlier down to 0-2 but came up on technical superiority to beat the Tokyo gold medalist Yui Susaki enabling herself to enter the quarterfinals sending a laudable message in India.
India is also expecting another medal, especially Gold pinning high hopes on an outstanding Javelin throw world champion and formerGold medalist in Olympics Neeraj Chopra popularly known as a Golden boy of India who will also be in high spirited action in the men’s Javelin throw ahead.
Expressing his immense happiness, a senior journalist K.P. Malik wrote on X while congratulating Vinesh Phogat terming her a Daughter of the Nation on her entering quarter final : Daughter of the nation… The pride of the country Vinesh Phogat has entered the quarter-finals of the tournament by defeating the defending champion in the Paris Olympics. With this, Vinesh has reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics. Today I felt very emotional as I remembered the scene at Jantar Mantar when these great daughters of the country, after getting drenched in the cold and rain for months, tried to make their voice of protest reach the ears of the blind, external and arrogant government of the country, but their voice failed to reach. But perhaps that voice must have reached today. Because such voices reach the ears of this government very quickly. Obviously, then these daughters were sidelined by calling them of a particular caste in the society. Today, perhaps she is not the daughter of any caste but of the country? But today I would definitely say that the daughters had the upper hand, There is dominance and there will be dominance. Anyway, anyone can bark wrote the senior journalist K.P. Malik on X..
Vinesh Phogat once again defied conventional wisdom and almost all predictions by defeating reigning Olympic champion Yui Susaki 3-2 in the round of 16 today!! WOW is the feeling of every jubilant and proud Indian.
Meanwhile, there is a little bit of sad news that another Javeline star Kishore Jena on whom were high hopes pinned , however failed to qualify in the men’s Javeline throw event. We still have high optimism from the Indian Hockey team which will be confronting Germany in the Semifinal match and bringing medal for the nation for sure.
The Olympics medalist – Bronze earlier Bajrang Punia wrestler Jason X while heartily congratulating Vinesh Phogat has written : Vinesh Phogat is the lioness of India who won back to back matches today Defeated 4-time World Champion and defending Olympic champion After that he defeated the former World Champion in the quarterfinals But let me tell you one thing, This girl was kicked and crushed in her own country This girl was dragged on the streets in her country This girl is going to conquer the world but she lost to the system in this country wrote Bajrang Punia who along with her and Shashi Malik sat on several days of Dharna at Kantar Mantar last year against the women wrestlers alleged sexual harrassment by the then MP and President of Indian Wrestling Federation Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.
