Varun Gandhi, MP offers to give up his pension and also urges other MPs and state lawmakers to follow suit in support of Agniveers who’ ve been left out of pension after retirement !

While the four year (tenure ) Agniveer Scheme of recruitment in Defence forces has resulted in a nationwide opposition by majority of youths aspiring to be bravehearts (army men) in the near future, with all the BJP leaders and MPs backing it tooth and nail, praising prime minister Narendra Modi for his foresightedness including giving several concessions to assuage the angered youths involved in violence and vandalism etc later on, one member of parliament of BJP, son of the former minister Menaka Gandhi, Varun Gandhi is badly annoyed having dared to speak against his own government on Agnipath Scheme, though diplomatically.

It may be recalled that son of late Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi, Varun Gandhi in BJP for long, has been issuing statements against his own party and government very often these days – unambiguously expressing his ire against the party leadership reminding of the days of actor turned politician n former minister Shatrughan Sinha’s ire against PM Modi few years ago who is now in Trinamool Congress as party’s Lok Sabha MP.

Varun Gandhi’s mother Menaka Gandhi too is no more the minister in the BJP led NDA government.

Both mother son duo seem to be in hostile mood these days.

In a Hindi tweet today Varun Gandhi has tweeted : If the Agniveers to serve the country for a short duration are not entitled for Pension then why are the people’s representatives enjoying this facility? If the saviour of the nation are not entitled for pension then I am also ready to give up my own pension. Can’t we Lawmakers of state assemblies and parliament give up our pensions in order to ensure that the Agniveers get their pension rights tweeted Varun Gandhi, MP. This statement of Varun Gandhi against his own government has definitely stirred the hornet’s net as till date not a single member of parliament of BJP has opposed the Agniveer scheme of the government except him. There had been several anti government voices from the opposition parties that the Agniveer scheme should be stopped forthwith as it has literally spoiled the future of the youths who are interested to serve the nation being in three defence forces. The Congress leaders Rahul n Priyanka including Sonia Gandhi and several Congress MPs and leaders have criticized the BJP led NDA government of this decision. The party MPs n leaders including Priyanka Gandhi had staged a two day Satyagrah at Jantar Mantar with the participation of two CMs of Congress ruled states viz Rajasthan and Chattisgarh as well. followed by a seven member delegation of Congress MPs n two CMs marching to President’s house presenting him two memorandums, demanding immediate revocation of the Agnipath Scheme and action against Delhi Police for lathicharging on Party’s MPs including a parliamentary standing Committee probe.
