Uttarakhand Screening Committee chairman Avinash Pandey sent to Jharkhand as its Incharge

The Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appointed the chairman of screening committee of Uttarakhand, senior Congress leader Avinash Pandey as the the general secretary in charge of Jharkhand with immediate effect. The letter in this regard has been sent to general secretary AICC n chairman of Uttarakhand Screening Committee Avinash Pandey today signed by the senior general secretary ( Organisation) K. C. Venugopal. The appointment was done and its announcement made on Tuesday evening in a hurry due to the previous general secretary, In charge Jharkhand, RPN Singh having joined Bhartiya Janata Party.

He was the state union home minister during the prime ministership of Dr. Manmohan Singh from 2012 to 2014. The chairman of the screening committee of Uttarakhand Avinash Pandey was relived of his previous responsibility when tickets of about six assembly seats are on hold and not declared till date with the last date of filing of nomination being 28 th January. Yesterday evening only 11 tickets could be released creating quite a furore in Uttarakhand Congress corridors especially when the name of Harish Rawat was declared frim Ram Nagar, where his strong opponent within Congress Ranjit Singh was an applicant having been an MLA from here earlier n losing last time in 2017. There are reports of hostilities in over more than half of the seats declared yesterday evening. Some of the aspiring candidates whose ticket could not materialise have threatened to contest as hostile independent candidates. May be it is because of the wrong selection of candidates that Avinash Pandey has been sent to Jharkhand say some of the news analysts. What is interesting to note that the symbols to 11 candidates declared on Monday evening have nit been given the party symbols.

The remaining six seats on which the names of the Congress candidates have been withheld till now are Chowbattakhal, Narendra Nagar, Tehri, Salt, Haridwar ( Rural) and Roorkie. From Chowbatta Khal there are speculations of Dr. Harak Singh Rawat being fielded against heavy weight of BJP n cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj. From Tehri the former chief of Uttarakhand’s name is stuck who’d been removed from all party posts by Uttarakhand incharge Devendra Yadav recently accusing him for hobnobbing with BJP leaders. From Narendra Nagar the name of a former BJP MLA likely to join Congress was to get ticket against BJP minister and candidate Subodh Uniyal.

The name of Harish Rawat’s, daughter Anupama Rawat is actively taking the rounds in Congress corridors as an aspirant from Haridwar ( Rural) seat with Ranjit Rawat likely to get ticket from Salt, from where he is not at all interested as Harish Rawat has snatched his seat of Ram Nagar from where he was trying since long.
