This young boy from Indore was part of the 37-day protest at Jantar Mantar. Today he is in pain, limping, and completely alone.
During the skirmishes after a lathi-charge, he says he was hit 14 times on his back INCLUDING FOUR TIMES with nail-studded lathis. In the chaos, his purse, mobile phone and all his money were snatched.
“I had to run helter-skelter to save myself, but I was helpless. They kept hitting me,” he told a journalist at the protest site.
In the middle of the melee, he tore off his shirt and gave it to a girl whose clothes had been torn. He was left in just his underwear, and later managed to borrow a trouser and an upper garment from someone.
Now he is penniless and doesn’t know how he will return to Indore. He was heading to the railway station with a bleak future ahead of him.
When asked why he came all the way to Jantar Mantar, his reply was simple and heavy:
“Because of the NEET paper leaks. Because parents spend lakhs on coaching and then feel cheated. Because we see no jobs and no future.”
