Uttarakhand High Court vacates stay on Char Dham Yatras with political parties taking mileage out of it
There is indeed a good news. The intelligent and always caring High court of Uttarakhand has given a decision to open the Char Dham Yatras, vacating the earlier stay, a long pending demand, but with a condition to obey the Covid 19 protocols for the safety of the people, locally as well as from different corners of the country, stringently.
The honourable High court’s jurists have honoured and respected the sentiments of the local inhabitants as well as the God fearing pilgrims and issued directives opening the closed Char Dham Yatra with stringent instructions to the government of Uttarakhand to strictly abide by the Covid 19 protocols and precautions.
This laudable decision of the High court has in fact send good news to hundreds and thousands of affected families, persons, businessmen and those associated directly or indirectly with these historic Char Dham Yatras.
This decision of High Court has opened doors of economic prosperity and giving a new lease of life to not only the government but also for God fearing pilgrims and those, highly affected by the closure of these Yatras since the last year or so during the Covid 19 lockdown and regulations.
The high court had turned down the Yatras in June and July and had instructed the state government that unless it strictly follow the Covid 19 guidelines and protocols for the safety of the inhabitants of Uttarakhand and elsewhere it will not allow the government to open these Yatras.
The High Cout was absolutely right in this context as during the month of April the state government led by the then chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has allowed the historic Kumbh Mela in Haridwar leading to havoc with about 3.5 Lakhs people having been infected with dreaded pandemic and over one lakh fake testings done currently under the probe of the state government.
The latest decision to open the Char Dham Yatras have now benefitted not only the government of Uttarakhand, that will earn tremendous revenue but has also given massive relief to thousands of petty businessmen, those in jobs in tourism industry, restaurant owners and employees, priests of the temples, transporters and its employees and several others connected with these Yatras.
Thanks to the Honourable High Court for being so generous and humane in delivering a pro people judgement.
Meanwhile the political parties as usual have started deriving political mileage out of this High Court decision especially the Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal saying that this decision has come because it was primarily the Congress party that has raised this issue and pressurised the Uttarakhand government to approach the High Court with written assurances to obey the Covid 19 protocols.
He accused the present government that had it submitted the written assurances and commitments to the High Court earlier, the Char Dham Yatras would have started quite before.
It may be recalled that the former chief of the state Congress Kishore Upadhyay have been demanding opening of these Yatras since long and has even gone to the extent of pressuring the state government that in case it does not take any decision in this regard, he, along with hundreds of the Congress supporters and pilgrims including the affected families will march to the historic shrines demanding opening of these Yatras.
He had held press conference in this regard and given memorandum to the chief minister by meeting him personally at his Dehradun office as well as at New Tehri Bhagirathipuram when the latter visited New Tehri few days ago.
In a statement the founding leader of Vandhikar Andolan and former chief of Uttarakhand Congress while welcoming the decision of the Uttarakhand High Court to vacate the stay order of Char Dham portals said that he was the one who had taken the initiative to demand for the starting of these Yatras. He was the one who had asked all the leaders of various political parties to come together to demand opening of these four shrines at the earliest having net the CM twice.
