Uttarakhand Government Accelerates Laldhang–Chillarkhal Motor Road After Supreme Court Lifts Ban

The Uttarakhand government has moved swiftly to push ahead with the ambitious Laldhang–Chillarkhal motor road project following the Supreme Court’s decision to vacate the stay on its construction.

In line with the directions of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami and Kotdwar MLA-cum-Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Smt. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, the Forest Department has formally designated the Public Works Department as the executing agency for the road. The order is expected to fast-track all administrative and technical processes and pave the way for work to begin soon.

The road has been a long-standing demand of the people of the region. Once completed, it will provide Kotdwar with direct and stronger connectivity to Haridwar and Dehradun. Officials say the project will also give a major boost to tourism, trade, social activities and overall economic growth in the area.

Smt. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan said the Laldhang–Chillarkhal motor road has been one of the most important and persistent demands of the local population for years. She credited sustained efforts by herself, the Chief Minister and Garhwal MP Shri Anil Baluni for keeping the project on the government’s top priority list. She also thanked the state government for presenting the case effectively before the Supreme Court, which ultimately led to the removal of the construction ban.

Expressing confidence that all necessary formalities would be completed in a time-bound manner, the Assembly Speaker said the new road will ensure safer, smoother and faster travel for residents and will open a new chapter of development for the Kotdwar region.
