Uttarakhand CM assures of sending iconic singer n lyricist Narendra Singh Negi’s name to centre for Padma award

Today is the 73rd birthday of legendary singer and lyricist of Uttarakhand, namely Narendra Singh Negi. The Uttarakhand government on the recommendation of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that it will this year send the towering singer’s name to the highest decision making body of the central government to consider legendary singer and lyricist Narendra Singh Negi as one of the outstanding aspirants for prestigious Padma Award delivered to recipients at Raashtrapati Bhawan by the president of India.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself made this announcement in the capital of Uttarakhand Dehradun.
He assured that the state government will expeditiously send the state’s recommendation to the central government for Padma award to Narendra Singh Negi making it a strong case.
In addition to this, the chief minister also revealed that the state government also coming out with its excellent initiative by publishing a significant book on the life sketch of iconic Uttarakhandi singer n lyricist Narendra Singh and other eminent singers including authors n literateurs and their contributions in the preservation and promotion of our folk culture, cultural heritage and traditions in the near future.
The chief minister specifically mentioned the names of eminent iconic singers, author, Literateurs including regional poets etc to be included in this book of the state government viz Girish Tiwari, Girda, Narendra Singh Negi, Mohan Upreti, Heera Singh Rana, Shamsher Singh Bisht, Jeet Singh Negi, Chander Singh Rahi etc.
These significant announcements were made by the chief minister while releasing a book on the life, philosophy and achievements of legendary singer Narendra Singh Negi on his 73 rd birthday in a function at Dehradun today.
While heartily congratulating Negi on his 73 rd birthday chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lauded his tremendous contribution in preserving and promoting the Uttarakhandi culture and values via his important lyrics and attractive mesmerising songs.
Terming him as the real n true hero of Uttarakhand chief minister Dhami said : Negi’s songs have immensely contributed in connecting Uttarakhand’s inhabitants with its grass roots. He added that iconic singer Narendra Negi has been highly contributive in spreading his melodious songs worldwide enriching our prosperous culture and highlighting the burning issues of environment protection, social aspects, against deforestation n social evils etc creating global awareness n in Uttarakhand n the country as well.
Thanking the chief minister for his courteous views lauding him, eminent singer Narendra Singh Negi assured the audience that he will continue to serve the society and the state with his songs and lyrics. He added that bringing smiles on the face of Uttarakhand’s each n every citizen through his songs would be his priority choice as usual.
It may be recalled that there had been umpteen demands by Negi’s followers, well wishers, friends n admirers to recommend his name for Padma award during the tenure of BJP as well as Congress despite the hard fact that legendary singer, lyricists and musician of Uttarakhand Negi not only carries behind him a vast fan following of millions of followers but when he was admitted in Max hospital Dehradun few years ago for his cardiac surgery he was inquired in google by his unaccounted number of followers and friends, beating even the PM Modi in terms of enquiries via google said news reports then. However, both the governments never paid any heed to the people’s request though Jaagar Samrat, from Uttarakhand has been awarded Padmashree during the BJP’s tenure at the centre, but quite senior n veteran singer was sidelined always.
Narendra Negi has to his credit thousands of mesmerising meaningful songs touching the passionate chord of his unaccounted number of Uttarakhandi admirers globally who most popular song ” Nauchami Narena” In Garhwali dialect broke all records against the then UK government Narayan Dutt Tiwari distributing vice chairman ships ( state ministerial ranks) to hundreds of local leaders even those not deserving putting extra financial burden on state’s tax payers money ( public exchequer) n making mockery of the government, ultimately leading to the Congress’s defeat at the hustings. Negi’s s songs carried important messages on burning socio political, cultural, environmental and corruption related issues mobilising the successive governments, the bureaucracy as well as general people against the prevailing inefficiencies in the system.
No doubt, Narendra Singh Negi deserves the Padma Awards.
