Two leaders of I.N.D.I.A came down heavily on ECI for not publishing the final voter turn out figures, even after ten days

Raises serious apprehensions on manipulation of results says Sitaram Yachury

The opposition leaders from India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance Congress leader and former union minister Jairam Ramesh and Communist Party of India (Marxists) senior leader Sitaram Yachury have come down heavily of the Election Commission of India and the ruling party government over the delay in declaring the accurate number of votes polled and other details after the first phase of voting on April 19 and second phase of polls in April 26 in almost half of the country. In a message on a cial media platform X the AICC Communication department incharge, and senior vociferous leader Jairam Ramesh has enclosing the article of a newspaper clipping said that for the first time, even 11 days after the first phase of the polls and four days after the second phase, the final voter turnout has not been published by the ECI. In the past, ECI used to publish the final voter turnout immediately after voting or within 24 hours. Only approximate polling figures are available on ECI’s website. What accounts for this delay, He asked ?

He further wrote that additionally, the number of registered voters in each Lok Sabha constituency and the assembly constituencies included in that Lok Sabha constituency is also not available on the Commission’s website. It only shows the total number of voters in a state and the number of voters in each booth.

It is essential for the Election Commission of India to be as timely and transparent about all election-related data said Jairam Ramesh on X. Equally concerned is the CPI ( M) leader and polit bureau member Sitaram Yachury who too after enclosing the election commission’s statement n table clipping, wrote on X that finally ECI has put out the final voter turnout figures for the first 2 phases which are substantially, not marginally as is normal, higher than the initial figures.
But why are the absolute numbers of voters in each Parliamentary constituency not put out? Percentages are meaningless unless this figure is known.
Apprehensions of manipulation of results continue as total voter numbers can be altered at the time of counting. Total number of voters in each constituency was always available on ECI website till 2014! ECI must be transparent & put out this data wrote Yachury on X while expressing his serious concern. Some of the responders on X were very critical over this delay by the election commission expressing serious apprehensions about alleged manipulations in the election results etc. One of the subscriber Rajiv Bose on X responded to Yachury’s tweet, writing : 100% rigging, as a last resort the dictator has now rigged the elections in connivance with the election commission, while the SC turns the blind eye. A 3% increase is significant and deeply concerning. What should had been the straightforward task of a few hours took the ECI 10 ….. In another message on X while enclosing the article under the title ” EC yet to give the final polling data for two phases, days after voting”, CPM Leader Yachury wrote : This is very disturbing. Raises serious apprehensions on manipulation of results. ECI has not disclosed the final poling figures of the first two phases. Only approximate polling percentages are put out. Total voters registered in a parliamentary constituency are not on ECI website. Percentages announced are, hence, meaningless and misleading. This opens many doors for manipulating the results by fabricating numbers. Till 2014, such data was readily available. ECI must put out this data immediately to restore voters’ confidence.
