THOUSANDS MARCH IN DEHRADUN DEMANDING CONCRETE LAND ACT AND MOOL NIWAS PRAMAAN PATRA. BJP GOVT WORRIED !
Thousands of youths, students, men and women, members of various, political parties across ideological confinements, social and NGO activists, ex servicemen, intellectuals etc assembled at Gandhi ground Dehradun raising slogans against the present ruling political dispensation, the BJP government demanding among other things the immediate implementation of concrete land act and “Mool Niwas Pramaan Patra”, with the base year being 1950. After the Uttarakhand movement phase 22 years ago, this, was the very first time that people across political spectrum had collected at Gandhi Grounds in such a massive quantity marching to Shaheedi sthal of prathak Uttarakhand movement activists who sacrificed themselves for this noble cause, holding play cards in their hands and raising slogans denouncing the BJP government for not implementing their demands, pertaining to Bhu – Kanoon and Mool Niwas Praman Patra 250 but showing urgency in UCC ( Uniform Civil Code) to derive political capital in view of the fast approaching elections.
THIS DEMAND HAS SO VIGOROUSLY SPREAD NOW THAT PEOPLE FROM THE INTERIOR VILLAGES ARE POSTING THEIR VIEWS DEMANDING NEW LAND ACT FOR UTTARAKHAND AS BELOW MAKING IT WIDESPREAD AT THE DECENTRALISED LEVEL
Raising slogans like ” LUTERON KI JAAGEER NAHIN, UTTARAKHAND HAMARA HAI”, BHU KANOON LAGOO KARO, MOOL NIWAS, PRAMAAN PATRA LAGU KARO ETC, thousands of enthusiastic but angry protestors were marching from Gandhi grounds to Shaheedi sthal to pay their tributes to separate Uttarakhand movement activists who sacrificed their lives for Uttarakhand of the people, for the people and by the people.
The activists wanted a concrete land act that will prohibit the outsiders to buy not more than 250 square yards of land in Uttarakhand which was implemented during the tenure of the then chief minister of Uttarakhand Major General ( RTD) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri but altered and avenues opened officially by the government of Vijay Bahuguna and thereafter stamped by Trivendra Singh Rawat, the BJP CM thereafter.
Mr. Trivendra Rawat , the then CM had lifted the ceiling of 12.5 acres under the guise of giving concession to the entrepreneurs in tourism sector etc resulting in large tracts of lands bought by the outside industrialists thus, spoiling and disturbing the demography of Uttarakhand. Today, majority of the lands in Uttarakhand have been openly and clandestinely purchased by outsiders, land mafias, builders, industrialists, corporate houses and the ultra rich and those living here are in tremendous distress losing their existence, traditions, cultural heritage etc.
Apart from this, the so called unfriendly development in the name of construction of umpteen number of hotels, resorts and commercial buildings by the ultra rich near the running rivers, on the mountains and interiors throwing the environmental norms to winds have created lot of imbalance to nature inviting ecological disasters.
The protestors also demanded apart from 1950 Mool Niwas Pramaan Patra , Bhu Kanoon, invoking of article 371 demanding jobs for eighty percent of the local populace including laws as existing in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh etc.
The legendary singer of Uttarakhand, Narendra Singh Negi played a pivotal role in energizing, encouraging and enthusing the participants towards these demands by his melodious songs and enthralling voice n music.
It may be recalled that the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has assured about bringing a concrete land act after the elections, the assurances given by him pre election, and had also announced a committee headed by the former chief secretary Mr. Subhash Kumar. The committee has said that it has completed its exercise on this and a concrete land act would be announced soon, but of no awail.
The government rather showed more and keen interest on the Uniform Civil Code and the Concrete land act demand was thrown at the back burner annoying the electorates of Uttarakhand . Hence this massive rally that worried the BJP government to the hilt.
