Congress demands resignation of Arunachal CM after the order of three judge bench of SC to probe awarding of contracts worth Rs. 1,270 crores

The Congrsss party has come down heavily on the union BJP government and its leadership including the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh not resigning on moral grounds despite the Supreme Court issuing clear cut directives for the Indian premier investigative agency’s probe into the alleged massive corruption in contacts awarded illegally worth 1,270 crores over the last ten years from December 2015 to 2025, December in a direct conflict of interest.

The former union minister and chief of the communication department of Congress , General Secretary and MP Jairam Ramesh while giving reaction on the orders of the three judge bench of Supreme Court directing the CBI to hold the probe in the alleged corruption in awarding contract said that
this is not an order of a lower court or a High Court. It is of the Supreme Court. Yet the CM continues in office. He is also the PWD Minister and controls the files that the CBI will need to conduct its inquiry.
Pointing towards the PM not naming him indirectly the Congress leader said : Why is the man who once said न खाऊँगा न खाने दूँगा quiet and why has the Arunachal Pradesh CM not been asked to step down? This is a gross travesty of the Supreme Court’s verdict itself.
There are other BJP CMs as well who fall in the category of the Arunachal Pradesh CM said the Congress leader.
According to the directives issued by the three judge bench on April 6, 2026 in response to the Public Interest Litigation filed by an NGO Save Mon Region Federation and Voluntary Arunachal Sena alleging conflicts of interest and systematic departures from open and competitive tendering in the award of public works.
The CBI probe examines whether contracts worth approximately Rs. Worth 1,270 crores were alloted to the parties close to him or to the CM’s relatives or close accquintances as alleged by the NGOs who filed the PIL demanding probe by the India’s premier investigative agency. The Congress leader is apprehensive that since the Arunachancal CM hasn’t resigned after the CBI probe ordered he may influence the investigations since he is also the minister of PWD.
