The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and chief of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav surprised his opposition friends when he said that the accusations of major land scam or purchase of 168 acres of land by him and his near and dear ones in Madhya Pradesh are all created ones as the BJP wanted to change Mohan Yadav and Rajasthan CM first to enable them change the Uttarakhand Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
He said this is a ploy to change the three state CMs and for that reason the controversy of massive land scams have been deliberately created against the MP CM Mohan Yadav.
Akhilesh Yadav said : Mohan Yadav had been a real estate developer earlier and was dealing with land matters for a long time. Who does not know that he had bought lands earlier ? It was his work to buy and sell land as a real estate agent. The record of the registry of land is nothing new. Was the BJP not knowing about it when he was made CM , he asked?
This is nothing but a ploy to change the Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav first by creating this controversy followed by Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal and this is being done to actually change the Uttar Pradesh CM who everyone knows has hundreds of acres of land emphasised Akhilesh Yadav.
Speaking to reporters Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the SP chief argued that Mohan Yadav’s land dealings were not new. “It was his work to buy and sell land as a real estate agent. The record of the registry of land is nothing new. Was the BJP not knowing about it when he was made CM?” he asked. He said that with the 2027 UP assembly elections approaching, the SP would come to power and the current CM would be “automatically removed”.
Yadav’s remarks came amid a political row after _The Indian Express_ reported that since Mohan Yadav became CM in December 2023, his family and associated firms had bought 168 acres across 137 plots in Ujjain for about ₹45 crore, with 111 acres located near proposed road projects and areas where the Ujjain Master Plan 2035 allows land-use change. The report also noted that the family already owned 108 plots measuring 179 acres before he became CM, with 85 acres purchased between 2021-2023 when he was education minister.
Congress has demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge and the CM’s resignation. BJP leaders have rejected the charges as “baseless”. State BJP president Hemant Khandelwal said the Congress was targeting an OBC chief minister and that Yadav had resigned as director of Siddhi Vinayak Devcon in 2017. Officials have argued that scrutiny should be limited to the CM’s wife, son and daughter-in-law, and that the extended family has been in real estate since 2010.
UP minister Om Prakash Rajbhar hit back at Akhilesh Yadav, saying everyone knew about Mohan Yadav’s real-estate background and accusing the SP chief of making “baseless allegations” because he was worried about his own party’s links.
The Madhya Pradesh CM’s office has not responded to a questionnaire sent by _The Indian Express_. No official inquiry has been announced so far.
