Rishikesh Badrinath Highway Bus Accident

A major road accident took place on the Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway on Sunday amid the Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand. A bus carrying passengers from Badrinath Dham to Haridwar suddenly went out of control and overturned on the road near Shivpuri in Munikireti police station area. After the accident, there was chaos at the spot and the passengers trapped inside the bus started shouting for help. On receiving the information, the police and relief teams reached the spot and a rescue operation was immediately started.

According to the police, the control room received a call about the bus overturning at around 4 pm on Sunday, May 10th. Shivpuri outpost in-charge Vinod Kumar arrived at the scene with a police team. The bus was found overturned on the road, with several passengers trapped inside. With the help of police and local residents, all passengers were safely evacuated.

7 Passengers Injured in Accident, Hospitalized
Seven passengers were injured in this road accident and were admitted to the government hospital in Rishikesh via 108 ambulance.

The relief is that all the injured are currently out of danger. The other 25 passengers were safely rescued and sent to their destination in another vehicle.

According to reports, the bus was carrying 25 passengers, a driver, and a conductor. All passengers were reportedly residents of Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, and were returning to Haridwar after visiting Badrinath Dham as part of the Chardham Yatra.

According to Tehri Garhwal District Disaster Management Officer Brijesh Bhatt, preliminary investigations revealed that a window of the bus suddenly opened during the journey. While the driver was trying to close it, he lost focus and control of the bus, causing it to overturn.

Police are currently investigating the entire incident and a detailed inquiry is underway into the cause of the accident. This accident, which occurred during the Chardham Yatra, has once again highlighted the need for caution and safe driving on mountainous roads.
