Red Carpet rolled out when union minister Gadkari reached Silkyara tunnel site in Uttarkashi, Garhwal. Vertical tunnel being dug to evacuate trapped 41 workers !

While union Roadways and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari who reached the tunnel incident site in Uttarkashi with the chief minister and senior officers directing the agencies involved in the rescue operation to safely evacuate the trapped 41 workers inside the tunnel, the work on vertical digging of an alternative tunnel to reach to the sufferers have been commenced under the instructions of PMO whose senior officials are already at the incident site.

According to the latest news wide diameter pipes have already been inserted covering the distance of 42 metres to reach to the trapped workers through the debris which was hard at certain places even resulting in damage of a drilling machine and the American Augur machine, in order to supply food materials, water and other essential items to the trapped labourers etc .

The vertical drilling work has already started today commencing the vertical tunnel work in order to reach near the trapped workers enabling their safe evacuation.

The Border Roads Organisation’s dedicated team and labourers etc of the company involved in the tunnel project are are taking up this work expeditiously.

According to sources about 4 to 5 days will be consumed in the entire exercise/ operation.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister for Highways and Roads Nitin Gadkari reached the accident site along with the Uttarakhand chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and senior officials including the DM, Uttarkashi.

The minister was accorded a red carpet welcome never expected during such occassions when 41 workers are trapped in a tunnel for the last 8 days and their families in extreme anguish including the entire state.

The minister Mr.Gadkari and the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have inspected the tunnel site.

After reaching Uttarkashi with him, he inspected the ongoing relief and rescue operations to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel. He also met the families of the people trapped in the tunnel and assured them of all possible assistance.

During this, officials were instructed to ensure availability of oxygen, food, medicines etc. for the people trapped in the tunnel. He also directed to maintain constant contact with the families of the workers trapped inside.

Evacuating the workers safely from the tunnel is our top priority, for this our government is coordinating with the central agencies and is engaged in rescue operations with full force.

Meanwhile one of the journalists and You tuber Mr. Rathi who is regularly giving current news on the developments taking place at the tunnel site with regard to the efforts being initiated by various agencies of the government wrote on X after the UK government accorded him red carpet welcome : Sir, After all VIP is VIP. The occasion is whether full of pain or anguish , the Red carpet welcome should be given to them, after all they are VIPs. When the union minister of Highways and Roadways Nitin Gadkari and the chief minister reached Silkyara tunnel mishappening site to supervise the evacuation and relief works, the red carpet was rolled out. Kindly recall that when the Jharkhand chief minister learnt that there are also workers from Jharkhand trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel , he immediately sent a senior IAS officer and two senior engineers to Uttarkashi tunnel side who are also coordinating in the rescue operation.

The senior officials from PMO are also stationed at the tunnel site and monitoring the rescue operation.

One highly learned engineer and drilling expert, a chartered engineer from US had reached the tunnel site hired by the government to expedite the work of alternative tunnel site being dug at Silkyara enabling early evacuation of the trapped 41 people inside the tunnel in Uttarkashi.
