Priyanka Gandhi’s 9th January’s Srinagar and Almora rallies postponed for 15 days in view of surging Covid n Omicron in Uttarakhand

In view of the apprehension and possibility of dreaded pandemic Covid 19 n Omicron virus surging ahead, the Congress high command and senior general secretary of All India Congress Committee K. C. Venugopal has on the advice of his counterpart and also UP Incharge Priyanka Gandhi has cancelled the two massive rallies earlier scheduled for 9 th January at Srinagar, Garhwal and Almora on the special request of the former Uttarakhand CM n chairman of the state election committee Harish Rawat. The president of Uttarakhand Congress, Ganesh Godiyal has informed that the rally of Congress general secretary considered to be its charismatic leader Priyanka Gandhi has been cancelled in view of the apprehension of Covid 19 n its variant Omicron spending in a wide scale. Therefore on the advise of the the party general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and K. C Venugopal, the scheduled rally to be addressed by Priyanka Gandhi at Srinagar, Garhwal and Almora, Kumaun have been cancelled for the next 15 days.

Honouring the directives of their leaders Ganesh Godiyal said that this is Priyanka Gandhi’s wise decision as she did not want to the pandemic to infect people attending her rally. He appealed to the leaders of all the political parties to follow suit and cancel all their rallies in the state for next 15 days to safeguard the inhabitants of the state from Covid as well as Omicron which is surging tremendously. Kindly recall that in Uttarakhand the cases of Covid 19 are spreading at the faster pace than at the national level average. The R value as on date in Uttarakhand is 2.14 whereas the national average is 1.69. The Week End curfew has been launched in Uttarakhand. The Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who had addressed a public meeting at Parade ground at Dehradun was infected with Covid 19 creating quite a furore n commotion in Dehradun where the district administration came into action on a rapid mode tracing and isolating all those who came in contact of Arvind Kejrival, including the staff of Bijapur Guest House where he stayed before leaving for parade ground. All those who had been in close contact with him were traced from Jollygrant Airport, to Bijapur Guest house to Parade ground rally including those like Colonel Ajay Kothiyal, MLA n Uttarakhand Incharge Mohania n others. The prime minister Narendra Modi too had addressed two public meetings one on 4 th December at Dehradun and another at Haldwani on 30 December attended by thousands of inhabitants and BJP leaders n workers brought in buses from various nooks and corners of the country. After prime minister’s two successful rallies n one of Rahul Gandhi on 9 th December, including announcements of 35,500 crores projects, the Congress leaders got perturbed over the BJP getting enough political mileage compelling Harish Rawat inviting the Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi to Srinagar, Garhwal and Almora to address two massive rallies n roadshows on 9 th of January to cover both Garhwal and Kumaun divisions of Uttarakhand. So far while only Rahul Gandhi has addressed a single rally at Dehradun from Congress, from BJP’s side PM Modi, union minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda n union highways minister had addressed rallies in various parts of Uttarakhand shaking the Congress leaders confidence, especially after two surveys of ABP C voter opinion polls n of Times Now, Navbharat has given a clear edge to BJP over Congress.
