Priyanka Gandhi plucks tea leaves in Assam tea garden with women workers

The Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Assam and interacted with the tea estate workers, especially women, not only just talking to them but also holding the traditional basket on her back and literally plucking tea leaves forsome time trying to learn the art of plucking tea leaves etc. In quite a jubilant mode Priyanka Gandhi showed lot of interest in mixing with the women tea workers of Sadharu Tea estate and tweeting her experience with people across spectrum during her two days visit to poll bound Assam which is likely to go to polls in March 27th. During and after her visit to the tea garden interacting with the tea women workers Congress general secretary said that she can’t forget the affection she acknowleged from the women workers while in the tea garden.

She tweeted in Hindi: The life of the tea workers is full of truth and simplicity, there labour is invaluable for the nation.

Today I conversed with them regarding their job and welfare of their families. I realiaed about the hardships and difficulties being confronted by them in their life. I will never forget the affection I got from them tweeted Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. In series of other tweets while in Assam she also mentioned about her visits to two temples before commencing her two day tour. She visited the Kamakhya temple and Madhavdev at Leketupukhuri and offered prayers. She also paid her tributes to freedom fighter Kanaklata Barua by garlending his statue who was martyred in police firing during the Quit India movement.

Lauding the cultural diversity of Assam Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said the colourful cultural diversity of Assam is actually its strenght. After meeting the cross section of the people during my Assam journey and interaction I came to the decision that the people of Assam are fully committed to preserve and protect the multicoloured diverse culture of Assam.

The Congress party is solidly standing with the struggle of Assamese to protect its diverse cultural integrity and heritage.
