PAURI BANDH A COMPLETE SUCCESS, CALLED IN VIEW OF ITS DETERIORATING CONDITION AND LOT OF ITS RESIDENTS
All the shops and business establishments were completely closed on Thursday after the call given by Sanyukt Sangharsh Samittee comprising of various socio political organisations of Pauri township led by the local leaders . Hundreds of people comprising of men, women, youths and students marched from Ramleela ground Pauri township taking rounds of the various main localities raising anti government slogans expressing their disenchantment of the deteriorating situation of Pauri township, its hospitals of no credible use for the poor patients of Pauri Garhwal, shopkeepers not earning enough in view of the local populace shifting elsewhere especially Dehradun, the poor traffic and sanitation condition and administrative machinery in jeopardy including poor water supply etc. Hundreds of disenchanted women and men gathered at Ramleela grounds at 11.00 AM and after deliverance of speeches of the local leaders marched for hours raising anti establishment slogans expressing their outrage and disenchantment over the deteriorating situation of Pauri township and the residents suffering tremendously despite Uttarakhand carved out of Uttar Pradesh about 2 3 years ago witnessing 9 chief ministers in just two decades. The rally was named Janakrosh Rally.
According to the chief convenor of Pauri Bachao Sangharsh Samittee ( Save Pauri Coordination Committee) Namah Chandola the Pauri township which was once the headquarter of the Commissioner with lots of main officers situated here, today it’s giving a lonely look with thousands of residents having shifted to Dehradun and other areas as all the offices have been shifted to the state capital, with Pauri township giving a deserted look. It was from here that the separate Uttarakhand movement was started by the Gandhi of Uttarakhand Indramani Badooni.
Unfortunate even after 23 years of Uttarakhand having come into existence once a main centre , today the residents of Pauri are suffering badly in terms of good hospitals , lack of adequate treatment, poor water supply, poor sanitation, traffic congestion, existing corruption and other important scarcities etc. The business community and petty shopkeepers are the worst sufferers in view of the mass migration of local residents not only from Pauri Township but also from the villages in view of lack of health facilities, job avenues, quality or minimum education for the children etc. Another leader of the Sangharsh Samittee Manoj Rawat and Thakur Singh Negi appealed to the local residents of Pauri township to maintain their unity and be ready for future struggle. The tragedy of Pauri Garhwal district is that though it has given several chief ministers and top bureaucrats including chief of the India Army and Defence services like Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri , Tirath Singh Rawat, Trivendra Singh Rawat, National Security Advisor – Ajit Doval and Ex Army Chief late Mr Rawat who died in a tragic chopper crash etc, nothing credible has been done for Pauri town ship in terms of its overall development or improving the lit of its people.
