Monetary compensation enhanced from 4 to 6 lakhs for human kill by wild animals n to 1 lakh for the injured in Uttarakhand
The human carnivore confrontation in Uttarakhand has become the order of the day with human kills by maneaters n other wild animals increasing exponentially and finally the government with dead ears seem to be worried about it. The increasing pressure of the people and media coverage on this serious issue has finally compelled the government of the day to think on this issue enhancing the monetary compensation from Rs four lakhs to six lakhs for the bereaved families of those whose blood relations become prey to maneaters of wild animals’ attack die and Rs one lakh to those injured. This, decision was taken by the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Shame on the recommendation of the Wild life and Forest minister of Uttarakhand Subodh Uniyal. The government of Uttarakhand has also announced a corpus fund of Rs two crores for compensating the losses during the human wild life confrontation and taken a decision to maintain and upgrade the Shivalil Elephant reserve. Several important decisions were arrived at and acknowledged the governmental approval at a meeting of “Rajya Vanya Jeev Board ” ( State Wild Life Board) chaired by Uttarakhand chief minister. The Rs 6 lakh monetary compensation announced in the meeting will include 4 lakhs frim the governmental emergency fund and Rs two lakhs from Forest department of Uttarakhand. It may be recalled that the CM had earlier announced Rs 5 lakh as monetary compensation for those killed in maneaters attacks on 1 st October on Elephants Day but it cannot be implemented thereafter but now it has been raised to Rs. 6 lakhs from Rs 4 lakhs for the deceased family and Rs. 1 lakh for those injured. A decision to start a Jim Corbett train train has, also been taken including bringing Rajaji National n Jim Corbett Park on the map of world Tourism.
