The Ankita Bhandari Mahapanchayat called by the ANKITA NYAY YATRA SAMYUKT SANGHARSH MORCHA at the Parade Ground in Uttarakhand’s capital, Dehradun was attended by thousands of people from across the state ” Garhwal and Kumaon division” demanding the CBI probe though already announced but to he held under the monitoring of the sitting judge of Supreme Court and on the basis of the FIR of the aggrieved parents of late Ankita Bhandari and few other demands.

The traumatised parent – mother Sonia Bhandari and father Virendra Singh Bhandari were also present at this Mahapanchayat.

The protestors were holding placards with slogans like ANKITA BHANDARI KO NYAY DO, PUSHKAR SINGH DHAMI NE THAANA HAI VIP KO BACHANA HAI, ANKITA KA NYAY ADHURA HAI, LADKAR LENGE NYAY AND VIP KO KANOON KE SHIKANJE MEIN LAAO ETC.

The women, youths and men in large numbers were raising anti government and anti CM slogans and demanding immediate arrest of the VIP behind the murder of Ankita Bhandari and demanding the CBI probe to be held under the supervision of the supreme court sitting judge as they are afraid that without the court supervision, justice won’t be delivered in Ankita Bhandari case as the ruling party government and the police are allegedly trying to save the VIP as
have been witnessed with regard to the evidences washed out at Vanantara resort overnight by the sitting MLA and the room demolished with the SIT not taking any legal action against those responsible for these illegal acts including not even interogating them.

In the end of the Mahapanchayat and several speeches of the leaders of various socio political outfits a memorandum with five major demands addressed to the president of India Jyoti Murmu was handed over to the authorities to be sent to her.

The very first demand raised in the memorandum is that the letter submitted to the Chief Minister by Ankita Bhandari’s parents, Soni Devi and Virendra Singh Bhandari, should be considered as a complaint letter for CBI investigation and on that basis, CBI investigation should be conducted under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The memorandum said that the FIR of Anil Joshi environmentalist and Padmashree is not acceptable and the FIR lodged at the Lakshman jhula police station by her father on the day of her brutal murder on 18 September should be considered as the nucleus keeping the facts of demolishing the Vanantara resort to wash out the evidences and the VIP at the centre of the case.

The memorandum also mentioned that following the Ankita murder case, evidence was destroyed by demolishing a large portion of the Vanantara Resort overnight with bulldozers, under the alleged directions of the Chief Minister.

In view of this, it is not morally and legally appropriate for the Chief Minister to continue in his post until an impartial investigation of this murder is completed said the memorandum.

He should therefore be asked to resign till the CBI probe is completed said the memorandum addressed to the president Murmu.

The memorandum further demanded that both the alleged VIPs Dushyant Gautam and Ajay should be kept in mind during the CBI investigation and chargesheet issued against them as their names have appeared in an audio raising doubts about their alleged possible involvement said the memorandum. The also demanded their resignations on moral grounds till the CBI probe is completed.

Given the ultimatum of 15 days, the protestors of Ankita Bhandari Mahapanchayat warned that if the names of the VIPs are not revealed and the FIR of Anil Joshi not revoked considering the FIR of the aggrieved parents of Ankita Bhandari as the basis for the probe, there will be an intensified bigger peaceful protest demonstrations in Uttarakhand.
