Kudos to Varsha Rawat earlier a truck driver, today driving Delhi government’s electric bus since the last nine months


You must have seen women driving E Rickshaw and even three wheelers , though they definitely are in very few numbers in the national capital territory. However, we haven’t till yet seen any woman driving the latest electric passenger bus on the highly cohesive and densely busy roads where driving is no easy job. When a driver in Delhi starts his duty driving a bus on Delhi roads , he or she actually are on a risk mission. Delhi has a population of more than two crores and vehicles around one crore or even more with eighty percent of them in Delhi roads. A young girl with a height of five feet 2 inches ,may be less namely Varsha Rawat of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand has won every heart by her perfect driving ferrying hundreds of passengers to various locations daily in the Delhi Transport Corporations latest electric buses. Hats off to her. A soft spoken, fragile looking beautiful girl , Varsha is well mannered with a gentle smiling face which never gives the impression of her being a driver of a latest model electric passenger bus in Delhi. I met her today in a Mohan Meakins ground on the occassion of the final cricket tournament celebrations at Mohan Nagar Ghaziabad. When I was introduced to her, I never could believe this little girl driving the Delhi Transport deparhments’ latest electric bus ferrying passengers several kilometres away to and fro, on daily basis. Her guts and gumption and courage to work for the survivor of her family with so dexterity as a Woman driver definitely is a source of inspiration to the present and future generations of girls who intend to serve the state or country through their dashing driving skills as is Varsha Rawat doing so dexterously. Varsha Rawat of Pauri Garhwal has been driving for the past 11 years. Previously, Varsha Rawat used to drive a truck in Delhi, but for the past nine months, she has been driving a DTC bus. Traffic jams and heavy congestion are major problems in the capital, Delhi, but Varsha Rawat overcomes all these challenges with her courage. I met her today at the finals of a cricket tournament organized by the DSF, and I was delighted to learn that Varsha Rawat is doing such a courageous job. Varsha Rawat is both an inspiration and a source of encouragement for other women in society.
