Junior Mehmood is no more, RIP

Junior Mehmood whose real name was Nayeem Sayyad suffering from stomach cancer for the last few months having spread in his liver and lungs died this morning in a Mumbai hospital sending shock waves all around at the pan India level especially in Bollywood fraternity.

He is being cremated at Juhu Muslim cemetery at Santakruz West at the time of writing of this news of his sad demise.

Having acted in about 260 movies in different languages with Hindi movies being his the most, Junior Mehmood was for the very first time given break by his mentor popular actor Mehmood who also gave him the Junior Mehmood title.

In a career spanning more than four decades Junior Mehmood acted in over 260 movies of different languages majority of them being Hindi Bollywood movies.

Though the list is long but some of his popular movies are Brahamchari, Kati Patang, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Geet Gaata Chal, Imaandaar, Baap numberi beta dad numbri, Choti Bahu, Aaj ka Arjun, Gurudev, Chote Sarkar, Judaai and many other movies including TV serials such as PYAR KA, DARD HAI MEEETHA MEEETHA PYARA PYAARA, Ek Rishta Sajhedaari Ka etc.

He is survived by two sons and a wife.

Just four days ago the ailing junior Mehmood has expressed his hearty wish to meet his co actor and dear friend Sachin Pilgaonkar as well as veteran actor Jitendra with whom he had worked in several movies.

Jeetendra fulfilled his hearty wish and visited the hospital with tears in his eyes. Similarly Sachin Pilgaonkar actor and his childhood friend too met the comic ailing actor in the hospital boosting his morale. The first actor to visit him was Johnny Lever followed by Master Raju who were not only his childhood friends but also co actors as well, in several movies since seventies.

All these actors were literary in tears but tried hard to uplift the sagging morale of ailing Junior Mehmood. Master Raju, actor and Junior Mehmood’s childhood friend wrote on X : Legendary comedian actor Junior Mehmood expired. RIP. Film Maker Sanjay Gupta, wrote : You were an integral part of my childhood which was all about the movies. Rest in peace, Junior Mehmood. Many thanks for the years of entertainment.
