It’s a direct flight between Congress candidate Prem Ballabh ( Sharma ) and BJP in Hari Nagar constituency. Congress picking up with Harish Rawat on Padyaatra on 2 nd January

The contest in the Hari Nagar assembly constituency has become extremely interesting as all the three candidates hailing from AAP, BJP and Congress are leaving no stone unturned to ensure their respective victories.

The polling is on 5 th January and counting on 8 th.

This time the AAP candidate from Hari Nagar constituency is Surendra Setia, a two terms councilor who was earlier in Congress party. From BJP the candidate is Shyam Sharma whereas from Congress Prem Ballabh (Sharma) is the official candidate.

The wife of the AAP candidate Surendra Setia, Manju Setia has been the councillor from this area twice whereas Shyam Sharma of BJP has been the Mayor earlier.

The greatest plus point giving maximum marks to the Congress candidate Prem Ballabh ( Sharma) is due to his affableness, good behaviour , sobriety and constant connectivity with the local electorates coming to their aid and rescue as and when required since long.

He is a soft spoken person and continuously in the service of the local populace including people of all sections of the society.

Prem Sharma had earlier contested on BSP ticket and has secured nearly 6,600 votes of the backwards communities and those who trust in him.

What is important and against Congress about this constituency is that since 1993 no Congress candidate has won from here except BJP and after 2013 only AAP.

This constituency is majorly dominated by the Sikh and Punjabi votes who always matter in every election.

During the last election, the AAP woman candidate had won by a very good margin but this time her ticket has been cut at the last moment who is also contesting as an independent candidate apart from the candidates from AAP, BJP and Congress.

According to the latest update this time the seat of AAP is in absokute danger as the sitting AAP woman candidate is contesting as an independent who will intrude into the majority votes of AAP.

Therefore the contest seems to be between two Sharmas, One from Congress Prem Ballabh Sharma and another from BJP Shyam Sharma, a former mayor.

Prem Ballabh Sharma is from Garhwal originally, though he has good contacts among the Punjabi and Sikh community due to his long time association with them and affable nature including helping attitude.

There are about 12 thousand Uttarakhandi voters in this constituency who are usually tilted towards the saffron party.

News analysts say that if the maximum Punjabi and Uttarakhandi voters including five thousand Muslim voters vote for Prem Sharma of Congress his victory is for sure.

However, since 2013 the AAP has been winning from this seat and the victorious AAP MLAs were Jagdeep Singh ( twice) and Rajkumari Dhillon once.

According to the latest news the contest now seems to be between Prem Sharma of Congress and Shyam Sharma of BJP with the possibility of Setia from AAP being distant third as the sitting AAP MLA Rajkumari Dhillon is contesting as an independent candidate posing direct threat to Setia.

Today the Congress candidates Prem Ballab’s padyaatra at Hari Nagar Agrasen Chowk to nearby surrounding areas was a grand success with hundreds of Congress supporters carrying Congress flags and banners raising slogans hailing him, marching with him meeting the residents and shopkeepers acknowledging tremendous positive response.

Tomorrow the former chief minister of Uttarakhand and CWC member Harish Rawat is holding padyatras in support of Congress candidate Prem Ballabh Sharma with the former Uttarakhand minister Dr.Harak Singh Rawat already holding several public and corner meetings in Sharma’s favour.

There are reports of the Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressing a meeting at Hari Nagar on third of January with a renowned singer of Uttarakhand Shiv Dutt Pant and his team organising a mesmerising Uttarakhandi cultural programme to elicit the votes of Uttarakhadies living in Hari Nagar constituency.

Today, advocate Jaswant Rawat, entrepreneur and renowned social activist , K.C.Pandey, Trepen Singh Bhandari, Lalit Mohan Negi, Retired ACP, Sunil Negi n others campaign ged for Prem Sharma.
