Indian High Commissioner summoned by Bangladesh Foreign office regarding firing at the border

The diplomatic relations between the new government of Bangladesh after the unceremonious exit of the Awami league prime minister Sheikh Hasina seeking refuge in our country and India have become sour with the Bangladesh government summoning the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pranay Verma to Bangladesh Foreign office to seek his explanation regarding the allegations of Bangladesh over alleged firing by India in the border area in Bangladesh territory. This has resulted in tense atmosphere and relations between Bangladesh and India.

According to a latest news this incident of firing from the Indian side had allegedly occured on 10 th and 11 th January midnight at Border post Navada.

According to the news this happened when the smugglers numbering 15-20 loaded with weapons had tried to violate the BSF despite repeated warnings and take the smuggled items across the border.

According to the statement issued by the Border Security Force : On the night of Friday some armed smugglers from Bangladesh side illegally entered the Indian territory to carry their smuggling activities not deliberately hearing to the repeated warnings of BSF Jawans. Instead of hearing to the warning their attitude was of attacking nature and retaliation, hence the BSF has to fire empty rounds to warn them. The BSF statement says that there may be the possibility of someone getting injured. The smugglers had 25 bottles of Fansedil, lives and torches which they left behind and ran away.

Earlier the Bangladesh government has demanded handing over of the former prime minister of Bangladesh seeking refuge in India who entire house was ransacked by the protesting students and looters in Dhaka.
