I.N.D.I.A. WRITES TO MARK ZUCKERBERG, URGES HIM THAT META SHOULD REMAIN NEUTRAL, IMPARTIAL !
The non BJP opposition conglomeration Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance has written a letter to Mark Zuckerberg CEO META Incorporated, earlier Facebook citing the exhaustive investigations by the leading daily of US “Washington Post”, that “Meta”, is inculpable of abetting social disharmony and inciting communal hatred in the country. The Congress chief and leader if the opposition in the Rajya, Sabha has wrote this on X, earlier twitter posting the letter seen by 1.55.2. Lakh people. The charge levelled by Washington Post seems to be extremely serious further taken up by the I. N. D. I. A.
In a two page letter sent to Mark Zuckerberg CEO, Meta – signed by Shri K. C. Venugopal, General Secretary ( Organisation) Indian National Congress on behalf of fourteen leaders of various political parties and important constituent of I. N. D. I. A , it mentioned that you may be aware about the recent exposes by the Washington Post newspaper regarding the role of WhatsApp and Facebook in aiding the communal hatred campaign of the BJP – specifically the articles citing the details of how this vile, communal lyrics decisive propaganda is carried out using whatsapp Group by BJP members and supporters.
Allegedly accusing the Facebook Indian officials of their partisanship towards the ruling dispensation the letter by I. N. D. I. A leaders unambiguously states that in another article published in Washington Post titled : UNDER INDIA’S PRESSURE, FACEBOOK LET PROPAGANDA AND HATE SPEECH THRIVE – it has elucidated with evidence, the blatant partisanship by Facebook Indian executives towards the ruling dispensation. This was well known to us in the Opposition for a long time and have even raised it several times in the past wrote INDIA in its letter to Zuckerberg.
Referring to Washington news reports the INDIA leaders unambiguously stated that it is very clear from these exhaustive investigations by the Washington Post that Meta is culpable of abetting social disharmony and inciting communal hatred in India further adding that they also have the data that shows the algorithmic moderation and suppression of opposition leaders content on your platform while also promoting the ruling party’s content.
Blaming the Meta for open violation of norms and favouring the ruling political dispensation the letter clearly states that such blatant partisanship and bias towards one political formation by a private foreign company is tantamount to interfering in Indian democracy , one that we in the INDIA alliance’ will not take it lightly, urgently urging and appealing to META that in view of the 2024 elections coming near, it exercises restrain and immediately ensures that META’s operations in India remain neutral and not used wittingly or unwittingly to cause social unrest or distort India’s much cherished democratic ideals.
The letter which was signed by the General Secretary of Congress K. C.
