Government is striving to achieve a 300 billion dollars bioeconomy by 2030 – Dr. Jitendra Singh

Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh formally launched the ‘High Performance Biomanufacturing Platforms’ at IIC N. Delhi, marking one year of Biotechnology for economy, environment and employment today.

Dr. Singh pointed out that biotechnology has become an essential component of every sector in the country, showcasing India’s potential to emerge as a global biotech leader.

The bio economy in the country has witnessed substantial growth, from 10 billion dollars in 2014 to over 165 billion dollars in 2024 said union minister Dr. Singh.

He stressed that the government is striving to achieve a 300 billion dollars bioeconomy by 2030.

The event was also attended by Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale (Secretary, DBT; DG, BRIC; Chairman, BIRAC), Dr. Jitendra Kumar (Managing Director, BIRAC), Dr. Alka Sharma (Senior Adviser/Scientist ‘H’, DBT), Dr. Kalaivani Ganesan (Scientist ‘F’, DBT) and Dr. Amita Joshi (DGM & In-charge Technical, BIRAC), marking a significant milestone towards strengthening India’s biomanufacturing ecosystem.
