Another Garhwali film, ‘Marchcha’ has been released and is currently running at the Mall of Dehradun. This approximately two-and-a-half-hour film makes it clear that migration is not a curse, and that a “return home” is possible. The entire story of the film is woven around this very idea.

After being screened in Dehradun, the movie will be exhibited in Delhi, NCR, Mumbai, Chandigarh and several other parts of the country where the majority population of Uttarakhand people reside, and it is expected to draw a tremendously good response.

The director, Shiv Narayan Singh Rawat’s another Garhwali film is already in the pipeline. Shot in the serene and magnificent locations of Pauri Garhwal, it is likely to be released in September. The film carries an excellent message of environment protection. It brings the woodcutters/wood mafia to justice through woman SSP Ms. Kandali, who not only sends the culprits to jail but also reforms them socially and ecologically, ultimately inculcating in them tremendous love for trees and the environment.

The film has been produced by Air Vice Marshal, veteran VSM Rajesh Bhandari and Veerendra Patwal. Two senior journalists, Sunil Negi and Manjeet Negi of Aaj Tak, play key roles in guest appearances. Padmashree and eminent environmentalist Kalyan Singh Rawat has also appeared as chief guest, delivering a message on environment safeguards and presenting a trophy to the heroine of the film, SSP Kandali, played by Smriti Rawat.

The hero of the film is smart and handsome Prashant G. Other promising actors include Dr. Kusum Bisht, Kusum Chauhan, Madhu Rawat, ACP Padmendra Rawat, Gaurav Gairola, Meenakshi, Jeewan Rawat, Nagesh Negi, Rajesh Bhandari, Shiv Narayan Singh Rawat, Mrs. Bhandari, Sadar Singh Negi, Advocates Jagmohan Singh Negi, Shiv Dayal Mamgain and Mr. Uniyal, all playing numerous roles.
