Former Congress president Kishore Upadhyay says that the entire blame of 2017 Congress defeat was conspiratorially levelled against him
The former Uttarakhand Congress president during the last assembly elections in 2017,Kishore Upadhyay has today catagorically said that the entire blame of the defeat of Congress party during the assembly elections of 2017 at the hands of the saffron party was conspiratorially levelled against me whereas the fact remains that despite the party badly losing in this election, just before it, the Congress government in distress was successful in coming out from the grip of PM Narendra Modiji and Amit Shahji, because of the strong party organisation in Uttarakhand.
Kishore Upadhyay while thanking the former state President of Congress party Pritam Singh with whom he worked closely for several years for his recent comments in this context said that I am a modest man believing in going forward singularly and would therefore like to say that till now the party leadership has not tried to analyse and assess the serious reasons of the party’s defeat in 2017 n its implications there in and as such I suggest and advise the Congress party leadership to kindly assess and analyse the reasons behind the 2017 severe defeat in depth.
He added : I being a modest and straight forward man, the entire blame of the party’s defeat was by way of hatching a conspiracy levelled against me despite the fact that I didn’t committed any mistake.
In addition despite so many factors going against, the strong party organisation and its leadership then, it secured thirty four percent votes added Kishore Upadhyay. Kishore Upadhyay was speaking to a YouTube media channel
It may be recalled that in 2017 assembly elections while the then caretaker CM Harish Rawat had lost from both the assembly constituencies, the Congress had got just 11seats against the massive mandate to BJP securing 57 seats. Now, the party has merely nine MLAs out of the total strength of 70 with BJP in absolute majority.
