Doctor attending on Sonam Wangchuk warns of serious consequences to his health if he doesn’t break his fast in a day or two

The doctor attending on the the climate change activist, IItian and Megsaysay award recipient Sonam Wangchuk who is on the 18 th day hunger strike alongwith other students and youths at Jantar Mantar has catagorically warned that the health condition of Mr. Wangchuk is badly deteriorating and if he doesn’t eat in two days anything unforseen can happen to him.

Yesterday several sympathisers , leaders and activists have urged him to give up the fast but he didn’t approve their request saying that if the government is really bothered they should approach him and fulfil his demands.

The climate change activist Sonam Wangchuk is 59 years old and has lost over 9 kg of weight till now. Yesterday his weight loss was 8.5 kg and today till afternoon he had lost half kg of weight. The climate change activist is determined and committed to the cause for which he is sitting on indefinite hunger strike and is not ready to give up come what may.

It may be recalled that thorteen students and youths of various organisations are sitting on indefinite hunger strike alongwith Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of the union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan holding him responsible for the NEET paper leaks and subsequent twenty suicides post leakage of Neet papers.

Several prominent personalities have reached Jantar Mantar to register their presence and solidarity with the cause and Sonam Wangchuk including the co hunger strikers. AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kejrival had expressed their solidarity with Sonam Wangchuk and haverequested the central govt vernment to heed to their demand and save the precious lives.

The Tamilnadu CM is also in Delhi and shall be reaching Jantar Mantar having already expressed his solidarity with Sonam Wangchuk.

The Southern popular film star Prakash Raj had also visited Jantar Mantar and actress Swaraj Bhaskar as well expressing her solidarity to the cause and with the Climate change activist and co hunger strikers. The former union minister and animal activist Maneka Gandhi also visited Jantar Mantar and expressed her solidarity meeting Sonam Wangchuk and others.

The CPM, CPI  including CPI ( ML) leaders  are also visiting Jantar Mantar regularly and the Gram Swaraj leader, a renowned psephologist Devendra Yadav also met Sonam Wangchuk and co hunger strikers and extended his full support to the struggling leaders appealing to countryment to gather at jantar Mantar in large numbers to participate in the March to Parliament to demand the resignation of the union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

There is a possibility of Congress leader and LOP Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav visiting Jantar Mantar to meet Sonam Wangchuk and extend their party’s support respectively.
