DESPITE VICTORY AAP NEEDS TO BE WORRISOME AS BJP’S VOTE BANK WENT UP BY 3% IN DELHI GOING UP TO 39% AND ITS OWN VOTE PERCENTAGE COMING DOWN TO 40% FROM 54 % ?

The victory of AAM ADMI Party in Delhi MCD elections, though being celebrated tremendously by both the Punjab CM Bhagwant Maan and Delhi Arvind Kejrival including AAP’s leaders and workers but one should not forget that the defeated political party – Bhartiya January Party’s 36 percent vote in Delhi is not only intact but they have gained three percent more votes getting 39% votes in this election crossing the 100 seats’ mark despite having anti incumbency factor going against them and leading in Delhi Municipal Corporation for fifteen prolonged years.

These symptoms despite losing power to AAP has made BJP’s top leadership jubilant giving credit to prime minister Narendra Modi’s charismatic image who could only held one rally in Delhi due to his hectic preoccupation in Gujarat elections.

In addition to this the AAM ADMI Party which had secured a massive mandate acknowledging 67 seats out of 70 and little less thereafter, its vote bank that was 54% then, has considerably come down to 40% unambiguously indicating that AAP’s popularity in Delhi is on the steady decline.

What is also interesting to note here is that Congress party which is on the downslide sequel incessantly since 2014 after Sheila Dikshit’s tenure having got negligible one seat earlier and this time merely nine seats in MCD out of 250 has seen enhancement in its vote share from four to ten percent giving an optimism to Congress leaders that it is on the road to gaining its traditional vote bank though in Delhi it has gone to distant third place with not early sign of its reversal as before in 2014 era.

Meanwhile, over enthusiastic Arvind Kejrival has said that now is the time to work hard to keep Delhi clean and clear the massive garbage dumps of Delhi which were his pre election promises.

He catagorically said that instead of blaming each other the newly elected councillors should work hard and with dedication to beautify Delhi and get rid of its massive garbage dumps.

The statements of some important BJP leaders and the Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta in particular that whatever are the results but the mayor of Delhi would be of BJP must have definitely perplexed the AAP which has secured comfortable majority in the Delhi Municipal Corporation.

It may be recalled that since in MCD the anti defection bill is not applicable such statements of BJP leaders do leave scope for AAP leaders to worry, however, in AAP’s office a board has been fixed yesterday stating that AAP councillors are not for sale and that BJP should keep themselves posted about this fact.

In Maharashtra and Goa n in some other states like MP the saffron party played its game of manipulation with immense dexterity forming its government after alleged horse trading even proving successful despite the prevalence of anti defection law.

This trend definitely sends a message of worry for AAP in Delhi in the future where anti defection law is not applicable, a moot question, indeed.
