Despite Congress facing a humiliating defeat in Uttarakhand, the blame game still goes on

Sounds astonishing that despite losing badly in Uttarakhand, acknowledging a humiliating defeat at the hands of BJP, the Congress party senior leaders instead of accepting the moral responsibility for their laxity and incompetence and resigning from their posts as Rahul did in 2019 holding him solely responsible, are still busy throwing verbal brickbats against each other, not at all realising that it was primarily their factionalism and internal squabbles that resulted in such a disastrous defeat for the party.

These ongoing inter cine squabbles in Congress party unambiguously state that the senior leaders of Congress in Uttarakhand have not learnt any lessons from this humiliating defeat winning just 18 seats with BJP getting 48 seats. On the third time defeat of the former CM of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, his opponent within the state Congress Pritam Singh has catagorically said that unless anyone works hard in his or her constituency for five years continuously, he or she should not contest from there as it amounts to killing the chances of those who work hard or nurse their constituency.

He added that if an outsider gets ticket it amounts to injustice to a true and genuine claimant clearly giving a hint towards former Congress CM Harish Rawat who contested from Lalquan constituency killing the chance of the former Block Pramukh n previous Congress candidate Sandhya Dalakoti, who contested as independent amounting to Rawat’s, defeat.

It may be recalled that veteran Congress leader and chairman of Congress election campaign committee Harish Rawat lost to BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht by a heavy margin of 17527 votes.

This was Harish Rawat’s third defeat from Lal Kuan, the earlier two defeats being from Kucha and Haridwar seats in 2017.

Meanwhile, responding to the accusations n charges of Pritam Singh, the former Uttarakhand Congress chief Harish Rawat said that he fully agrees to Pritam’s logic that a person should never claim ticket from a constituency he had not worked for five years but added that it wasn’t his fault as he had adhered to the party high command’s directives to contest from Lal Quan despite the very fact that he was earlier given ticket from Ram Nagar assembly seat, where he had made all arrangements and preparations.

Rawat clarified that being a disciplined soldier of Congress I followed the party’s directives and filed nomination from Lal Quan. Rawat added that injustice was done with him in 2017 as well when he was shifted from Ram Nagar to Kicha. It was in 2017, that he had expressed his hearty desire to contest from Ram Nagar but on the pressure of the party high command then too, he had to contest from Kicha against his wishes losing from here as well. On the issue of establishing the muslim university in Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat catagorically clarified that he had never uttered a single work in this regard.

Not only this but a person who spoke in front of media about this issue quoting me was never in my contact or touch. He demanded a though inquiry in this issue as to who in Congress party appointed him secretary of the state Congress n then general secretary etc.

It may be recalled that the controversy of Muslim university erupted when one of the applicant for Sahaspur Congress ticket hailing from a minority community, contesting as the hostile candidate was approached to give up the contest by not only elevating him as Uttarakhand Congress General Secretary but also fulfilling some of his demands of development of Sahaspur including alleged establishment of a muslim university, if Congress comes to power.

While addressing media this politician joining Congress mentioned this point whe video of which went viral in social media giving BJP a handle during campaigning.

Meanwhile, Harish Rawat had also come forward in defence of the Uttarakhand Congress President Ganesh Godiyal who himself lost from Srinagar assembly constituency after demands of his resignation by his detractors within the party. Harish Rawat lauded Ganesh Godiyal for having worked with immense dedication and sincerety during elections leaving no stone unturned to ensure Congress’s victory. He said that despite his best, untiring efforts the party lost as the time was short added Harish Rawat. Ganesh Godiyal lost by merely 587 votes. Prime minister Narendra Modi had addressed a massive public meeting in Srinagar.
