Dehradun police cracked the murder of a 72-year-old woman in Raipur area within just 12 hours. The accused turned out to be the helper working at her house.
According to police, the murder happened over a dispute regarding pending wage payment. During the argument, the accused allegedly hit the woman on her face with the steel bracelet (kada) he was wearing. When the woman screamed, fearing he would be caught, the accused pressed her mouth shut.
It is alleged that after the woman died, the accused removed the gold bracelet from her hand and fled, and changed his clothes to evade police.
With the help of CCTV footage, surveillance and informer network, police arrested accused Vineet Kumar near Trilok Guest House, Ring Road.
On his disclosure, police recovered the looted gold bracelet from the deceased, the bracelet used in the crime and mobile phone.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, SSP Dehradun himself reached the spot and gave necessary instructions to police teams for cracking the case.
