BJP CM Dhami and other two CM faces lose with Godiyal and Surendra Negi too losing from Kotdwar and Srinagar,

While the Bhartiya Janata Party has broken all the previous records of returning to power, killing the usual trend of the ruling party, never repeating another time after the assembly elections, winning on 48 seats under the leadership of youthful and energetic CM who ruled for just seven months after assuming the CMs chair what was tragic for him politically was that he himself lost despite his party’s resounding victory.

The defeat of Pushkar Singh Dhami, CM reminds us of the defeat of the then CM Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri who lost from Kotdwar in 2012 being CM at the hands of the then Congress victor Surendra Singh Negi.

Sounds shocking indeed, for BJP.

However, the two other prospective CMs of Congress and Aam Admi Party viz former CM Harish Rawat and Colonel ( retired) Ajay Kothiyal have also lost at the hustings, dashing all hopes of their respective parties.

Not only this, but the Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal has also lost from Srinagar assembly constituency to the sitting lawmaker of BJP and education minister Dhan Singh Rawat.

The strong Congress contender and former health minister of Uttarakhand Surendra Singh Negi has also lost from Kotdwar at the hands of the former Yamkeshwar MLA Rita Khanduri, daughter of former CM Major General ( R) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri.

The present CM Pushkar Singh Dhami surprisingly lost to Congress party’s candidate Bhuvan Kapri who defeated the present CM by 6932 votes securing total 40107 votes against Dhami’s 33175 votes.

Similarly the former CM Harish Rawat secured 28046 votes from Lal Quan and lost by a heavy margin of 16432 votes at the hands of Mohan Singh Bisht of BJP who secured 44478 votes. A shameful defeat for Rawat indeed say political analysts.

The Congress’s hostile candidate whose ticket was cut to oblige Harish Rawat, namely Sandhya Dalakoti a committed Congress woma had contested from this seat to ensure Rawat’s defeat, expelled from Congress for six years.

Another CM candidate of Aam Admi Party Colonel Ajay Kothiyal too lost with a heavy margin of 21467 votes with BJP’s Suresh Chouhan winning securing 27035 votes. Ajay Kothiyal secured merely 5568 votes. He lost from Gangotri assembly seat.

The most interesting aspect of this development is that the electorates in certain constituencies have outrightly rejected the chief ministerial candidates despite the hard fact that in majority of the opinion polls veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat was adjudged as number one choice as CM of Uttarakhand.
