Author of “Pravasi Pradhan” n eminent social activist Prem Dutt Tiwari is no more. RIP

A prominent social activist, an author of “Pravasi Pradhan”, a book on his journey as the village head in Tehri Garhwal and a dedicated Uttarakhand activist during the separate Uttarakhand movement days during nineties, octogenarian Prem Dutt Tiwari is no more. He breathed his last at his native village Devri Malli, Party Bamund in Tehri Garhwal.

The news of the sudden demise of Prem Dutt Tiwari whose entire life was dedicated in social movements, though was a government servant as well, was a thorough gentleman.

His association with late political stalwarts Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Harish Rawat and Vijay Bahuguna, all former CMs of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand is also well known who always lauded him for his social welfare activities pertaining to his native place in Tehri Garhwal in particular and Uttarakhand in general.

Born on 1st April, 1938 at Gram Devri Malla, Patti Bamund in Tehri Garhwal Prem Dutt Tiwari later on shifted to Delhi and completed his graduation while pursuing his studies after duty hours.

A relentless struggler for noble causes and problems related to Garhwal, Uttarakhand including being active in Uttarakhand movement during nineties, after retiring from government service as a gazetted officer Tiwari settled in his village and was elected an unopposed Pradhan who changed the face of his village n adjoining area by bringing road, health centre, school and other basic facilities to the Gram Sabha.

He authored a book titled “Pravasi Pradhan” highlighting the various facets of his village life as “Pravasi Pradhan” which was jointly released at Garhwal Bhawan few months ago jointly by several dignitaries viz eminent literateur n author of several books Dr. Harisuman Bisht, Kishore Upadhyay, Harish Awasthi, PCI chief Umakant Lakhera and Sunil Negi, President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum.

The entire Uttarakhand community in Delhi and elsewhere including the various Uttarakhand organisations are shocked to hear about his sad demise.

Till his last, Prem Dutt Tiwari was active in social life and voracious reading despite being closely associated with several social organisations in Delhi and Tehri Garhwal.

The former Congress chief of Uttarakhand Kishore Upadhyay and President of Uttarakhand Journalists Forum Sunil Negi expressed their deepest condolences on the sad demise of Tiwariji and prayed to Almighty to render peace to the departed soul at His pious feet.

May the Almighty render peace to the departed pious soul. RIP.
