New Delhi, 24 June 2026.

The most outspoken and vociferous Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Monday targetted BJP and renewed his attack on the Uttar Pradesh government and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over alleged misappropriation of Ram Temple donations, saying the Special Investigation Team was “not doing its job” and that the accused were being “protected”.

Doubting on the credibility if SIT probe the AAP MP referring to the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement that anyone with evidence should submit it to the SIT instead of making baseless remarks, Singh said, “I knew that the SIT was not doing its job, yet I wrote a letter to the SIT on 20 June and also sent an email requesting time.

Every theft has taken place, papers have been stolen, and even now, no one has been arrested or sent to jail. This means that you are protecting the thieves. The entire ED party is involved in this” emphasised AAP MP Singh.

Most vociferous on the Ram Mandir ghotala the AAP MP Sanjay Singh has been pressing for criminal action against Trust officials for several days.

On 18 June, he submitted a written complaint to the SHO of Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station in Ayodhya, demanding an FIR against Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and other trustees for “large-scale corruption and theft of donations”. In his complaint, Singh alleged theft of silver and gold bricks donated by devotees and “questionable land deals” in which plots valued at around ₹2.92 crore were purchased by the Trust for as much as ₹16.5 crore.

Citing irregularities in various dealing if the Ram Temple he also accused that the alleged corruption could amount to nearly ₹200 crore, citing instances of money recovered from individuals linked to the temple trust adding further that “the amount stolen from the Ram Temple donation boxes exceeds ₹200 crore. More than 50 employees are reportedly involved… Despite this, no action has been taken against the main individuals responsible,” Singh told reporters earlier.

Singh questioned why central agencies had not acted. “Country mein ek ‘ED Party’ kaam kar rahi hai, jo vipaksh ke har chhote-bade maamle mein ED aur CBI bhej deti hai lekin Bhagwan Ram ke daan paatra se saikdon crore rupaye ki chori par uski zubaan band hai,” he said at a press conference in Lucknow.

The SIT, formed by the UP government on 13 June following a request from the Trust, comprises Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, IG Kiran S and Finance Special Secretary Neel Ratan.

The special Investigation team submitted a 150-page preliminary report to Additional Chief Secretary, Home, on Tuesday, recommending an FIR, a five-year audit of donations, and restructuring of the Trust.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said last week that the SIT probe would make everything clear and urged all sides “not to make any remark or statement which hurts the sentiments of the followers of Ram,” adding that those with documentary evidence should submit it to the SIT. f3f8

Trust officials have denied wrongdoing. General Secretary Champat Rai has categorically rejected the allegations, and member Mahant Dinendra Das Maharaj said all transactions are recorded and processed transparently.

It may be recalled that the saffron party BJP has not issued a detailed response to Singh’s latest remarks though the UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya had earlier said, “Making allegations is one thing; proving them is another. If any wrongdoing has taken place, those responsible will certainly be punished”.
